Definitely understandable, just was one I wasn't looking at leaving. As deep and talented as the DL is he will be missed.
Sports Illustrated has both Brockers and Claiborne going Top 10 overall (#5 and #8): Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III top our first 2012 NFL mock draft - Andrew Perloff - SI.com
So we lose our best receiver, another receiver, our best corner, our best defensive tackle, 2 safeties, 3 linebackers, 1 quarterback, 1 guy that played the position of quarterback, 2 offensive lineman, 2 tight ends, a defensive end, our long snapper who it seems has been our long snapper for 10 years, and then a bunch of people who play sparingly. Gonna be alot of changes next season.
No more than normal and the team is deep. Just like this year, team talent won't be a factor that limits our success.
Really? I don't know, I'm rather disappointed. As I said, it's not something I didn't necessarily expect, but I built up some hope he would be back and this sort of let me down. I wouldn't say I'm disappointed in him, but certainly in general. As for Brockers, I can understand going with the draft grade he got, but I think he will churn his wheels for a few years before he fully develops. We also have the depth in this area to replenish. As for Randle, I don't see it. Never saw the great ball skills or anything from him other than above average hands. I think he's gonna be taken in the 4th round or so and not go very far. Leaves us with a big hole to fill.
Congrats to Mo, looks to be a top 10 pick and could move up if the right team has a say. Brockers has a good chance to be in the top 20 and he too could move up with the right team picking.:tigereye:
Kind of contradictory to say RR didn't show you much but also say he leaves a big hole, no? FWIW, he was probably going anyway, but Monday night plus a brand new receivers coach sealed it. He won't improve much more in college honestly. Might as well take it to the pros and let proven guys coach up. He needs to improve his work ethic though. Not sure why you thought Claiborne would come back. Top 5 picks only come back on the west coast, lol! And I didn't think Brock would grade out that high. Impressive!
In 2010 our team had just lost: Scott, Keiland Williams, LaFell, Riley, Coleman, Jones, Cutera, Trindon, Woods, Alem, Richard Dickson. And we won 11 games. This year the lost was...... Sheppard, Nevis, Levingston, PP7, Jai Eugene, Ridley, TT80, Jasper and Helton. Thats a ton to have out on the Defense and Special Teams. Next year we could have 4 starters on the OL, Josh D should get a medical(He could be a 5th starter). 82 players played this year, around 60 of those return. The kids that were Red-Shirted will have a feel for the system. An upgrade at QB, should help. Remember the checkoff by Mett when all he saw was green turf? Adams, Brockers, LB's, Mo and Taylor are a loss. I do like the play I've seen in Johnson, Ego and Rasco. The word I'm getting on DB's, Jenkins and Collins will do well next year. :tigereye:
I should clarify what I meant. I don't see the skills that I believe would allow him to excel at the pro level. Sure he's big, and he can out-body college defenders, but I don't see the hands, the ball skills, the top end speed, the route running ability, or the motor for him to go anywhere at the pro level. As for college ball, he could get by based on height and his ability to position himself. The perfect example of this is his red zone TD against Oregon. Any decent DB in the NFL easily knocks that ball down or picks it, but Randle was able to catch it because his body was there. As for Claiborne, I didn't really think he'd come back, I just had a glimmer of hope that he'd want to avenge this loss. If I were him, I'd want to stick around for one last year, another shot, and a degree, but that's just me. Suppose I let myself get a bit too hung up on that.
