So, because you, who are intellectually superior to most, decides carrying at a rest area is ok (and you are most likely proficient with it), how do you then tell someone else who lives in a pseudo war zone near an A&P that they are blanking stupid for protecting themselves as well?
Damnit, you guys have to quit making me defend my amigo, makes me feel dirty. My thoughts are not about the ones who live in the war zone, it's the stupid soccer mom's or the nerd who thinks because they got an open carry permit they are now Billy bad ass. It's dumb and uncalled for and makes a grade A criminal that can snatch it from the holster, bop them on the head with it and run off with their wallet foam at the mouth. It's just fucking stupid and I really don't care who it is.
One thing I've learned legal or not cops don't like when citizens carry guns. Not even in your ride. God help you if there's one in the chamber.
What? Did I not say that I agreed with Shane " for the most part"? Did I not point out that I carry openly only when I have a good reason? Did I not make it clear that I thought carrying a gun to the A&P just because you can is fucking stupid? When the hell did I "tell someone else who lives in a pseudo war zone near an A&P that they are blanking stupid for protecting themselves"? What am I missing here?
Then you have this, white guy open carries, cops treat him with respect, send him on his way. Black dude does it, guns drawn, 6 units arrive, cuff him, take his weapon. http://countercurrentnews.com/2015/05/how-police-treat-black-vs-white-open-carry/
Thats one reason that I keep the gun in my vehicle unchambered and with the magazine removed. Then I am only transporting an unloaded weapon. If I need it I can load it in seconds, of course. But until I need it, it is unloaded.
How would you have handled it if you were a cop. What would your experience as a cop with well honed survival insticts tell you to do? The real answer, not the PC answer.
I would never be a cop so I'm not sure, it really depends on the law I guess. Probably keep driving to a pay phone and call it in when I'm far away.
