Really, he is a megabeast...besides, if were talking FB over RB...when was the last time a FB, broke the game wide open, or gashed a SEC defense for 200 yards??
Maybe this is where everyone is getting tripped up because I have seen it here and a few other boards many times. Taking CM is not dependant on Singleton. Singleton has his offer and probably has already told the coaches his decision when he visited this weekend and will wait for a official annoncement after his Tulsa visit. CM will be evaluated after the silent period and be extended an offer if the coaches feel he is a must take in this class which he most likely is.
Agreed with Bhelm. I am saying we take Michael in addition to getting the FB we need. If Singleton is that FB that will fit the bill, then he will be a Tiger.
I think the biggest problem in rating a fb out of high school is that the good ones are not playing the position. You therefore have to project how the player will contribute at a position he is not playing. Most are a big power RB in high school. If a high school team is fortunate enough to have that strong and fast a runner they are usually handing them the ball and not using them much as a lead blocker. It would be unusual for a high school to have another elite RB for him to block for.
I read an interesting opinion from a poster on Tigerbait earlier. Essentially, his position is that Michael could never be as valuable to us as Richardson would be, and it has nothing to do with Michael's talent level. Either guy might be talented enough to change game outcomes single-handidly, but only Trent Richardson is committed to a conference foe who we have to play every year and could change the outcome of one of our games in a negative way. So Michael & Richardson could both help us win a game, but only Richardson has the added benefit of not helping Alabama beat us. Further, he says that Richardson is still a possibility, but he wouldn't be if we take Michael (I agree), and we're willing to pass on a talented guy who could help us win to take a chance on a guy who could "double" that production for the Alabama game every year.
I've been thinking this as well. What I wonder, though, is how realistic LSU's chances of pulling TR are. There's at least a little thought out there that if he decommits, he goes to Florida, not LSU. I'll be scoping TR out at least once this season. Looking forward to it.
The guy's point is that it is worth losing out on Michael to risk landing TR, but his stated assumption is that we stand a good chance of this. Personally, I fully expect TR to sign with Alabama. However, he has apparently not given our coaches that same feeling as we still feel pretty good about our position with him.
Remember the big bad combo of Auburn, Cadillac and Brown? Yeah well they came to Tiger Stadium and couldn't do shyt. Trent Richardson or not. We will NEVER lose to Bama in the foreseeable future.
