I realize the whole NEED thing regarding FB vs RB, the star system focus, and that there are only a certain number of football players we can take, and we should be taking the best we can get that fill our needs. However, the star system is correct in a majority of cases, and CM does sound like he has that "megastar" potential that you speak of. I agree he should have come to camp here if he really wanted to go to LSU. Maybe he doesn't want to be here as much as people have been saying. I am sure we would be fine without him, it just seems to me to not meet the logic test regarding the big picture of bringing in the best talent available (provided their quality of character is good, of course).

FB's are a dime a dozen, game breaking RB's are a little harder to find. The LSU staff is aware of him and has the opportunity to evaluate him if they want to whether he comes to campus or not. I trust the coaching staff knows what they are doing, it's just hard to imagine passing on this guy if he is as good as advertised. You can never have too many big time RB's IMO.

Granted its just a scrimmage, but that shows some awsome talent/potential. I really could give a flip about star ratings. Besides isn't Tyler Edwards gonna be a FB?

Maybe. But FBs like Jordan and Johnson (and Hester) are not a dime a dozen.

I'd still take CM and sort it all out later. But I don't think good FBs are quite as easy to come by as you hint.

FB is a need and Singleton is a great hybrid from what I hear and FBs are far from a dime a dozen. Go check out the FB prospects this year and see how many you can really pick from that a worth it. Singleton is one of them and from the home state.

I suspect CM will get an offer soon but the reason he does not have one now is not only because he missed one camp but 3 or more visits he had planned with LSU. If say he would have missed one and then told the staff he is having problems getting to campus then the staff could have made plans to make a trip to see him. Now it is a silent period where the coaches can not make direct contact with the prospects unless it is on LSU's campus.

Do not get hung up on stars especially for FBs and CM is still the same guy the coaching staff has recruited before he recieved his 5th star.

It's not about stars, it's about bang for the buck so to speak. And yes FB's are indeed a dime a dozen. That's why you don't hear all the hoopla about FB recruits. Hell OL isn't a glamor position but watch how recruiting nuts get pumped over a big time OL recruit. I'm not saying one should be given a scholly over the other and singleton may fill a big need this class, but you can always pick up a or convert a FB. It may not be a perfect example but other than kickers FB's receive less scholarships than any other position. Also where do FB's get drafted? Late rounds if at all for the most part. I hope we get both of them and they are both as good as advertised. Like I said I also trust the coaching staff to make the right decision, they have done a great job so far. But if it comes down to one or the other I'd rather pick up a big time RB while he is available. JMO

Not exactly. He's going to be an H-back, which is like a FB/TE hybrid, and is not a big bulky bulldozing FB like Singleton.

I really do not get your bang for the buck comment. It all comes down to what the coaches feel a prospect can bring to the team and what positions are of need to fill. My point is that there are not a ton of highly evaluated FBs in any given year but I rely on what I see from film and who the coaches are going after at the FB position. They certainly feel the Singleton can fill their needs at FB/Hybrid RB. Singleton does not have anything to do with CM. If the coaches finally get to see CM in person and think he can provide them something of need and different from what they already have at the RB position they will offer him and I feel confident they will see that and offer him. 5* or not that is what it comes down to.

He will be available when we want him because it is not secret he is waiting and really wants an offer from LSU. He is not holding any grudge with the coaching staff because he knows he was the one who missed the scheduled visits.
