Only after our coaching staff evaluates him. It's really that plain and simple. I am assuming by your geographical location that you have seen none of these kids play in person. How do you reach this conclusion?
Well Rivals has him a 5 star, while Ford and Pratt are only 4 stars so Michael must be a better RB.:hihi: Seriously, what he did was very, very impressive. He may or may not be a better prospect than the guys we already have on board. I still feel unless he is an unreal talent, we dont need another back. Im fine with whatever the coaches decide, they have done a great job in evaluating talent.
Going by others evaluations he may be very hard to pass on. I remember a time when LSU had a running back trio rated the best in college football and were featured on the front page of Sports Illustrated. By the time the first game rolled around only one of the three was on the active roster. One was kicked off the team, one hurt and one ready to go. I really like the depth at RB we have recruited and we are by no means in great need. However he has been evaluated by many coaching staffs and recruiting services and has been ranked very high. No doubt the LSU staff would be better off seeing with their own eyes if at all possible, but you can't tell me that every prospect we offer comes to an LSU camp. The odds are that this guy is the real deal and I'd like to see him in purple and gold. But either way you can't complain about the job the coaching staff has done this year putting together an extremely solid class. Hopefully he will visit and get an offer, if not he may only have himself to blame.
Which ultimately means very little, or he would have an offer in hand. Nobody said that. It has been established that the existing film on him is very poor quality and he did not camp at LSU. In lieu of that, the LSU coaches prefer to actually see him play. It seems unlikely they will offer him without this condition being met. Very true.
At least 95% of the guys we sign have been evaluated in person, whether in camp or not. He missed his chance at camp, but he could still impress enough during the season...
There is a big difference between a camp evaluation and someone coming in for a weekend visit. A weekend visit is little more than a meet and greet, it's not like they call in all the local competition and put him through a scrimmage. What do they evaluate them on in a weekend visit, how well they shake hands or is it how much they eat at TJ Ribs? Most recruits have been well evaluated before they ever step foot on campus. The staff may not have nearly enough info on Michael, only they know for sure but your blanket statement of 95% being evaluated in person means very little IMO.
