Appears now that this will play itself out and Michael will eventually be a Tiger. A&M has backed off since his announcement LSU is his outright favorite and where he wants to be. LSU brass will finally get to see him on the field, see that he is too good to pass up, and offer him and he will accept. Be patient.
Many people went from expecting only 2 RB's to having the possibility of 4 if you count the FB we could sign. Without researching the RB's Texas A&M has a shot at, I have difficulty believing they have better options than Michael. I would think they are only backing off because they feel he will reject them for LSU. I think A&M holds a spot open for him, but just recruits other RB's hard because they don't feel any love from Michael. I can't see them turning down a 5 star recruit if he wants to commit later on.
aTm has 25 commits on Rivals right now. I imagine they're saving a couple of spots, but they don't have much room left. Regardless of who they have on the team or are recruiting, I think they give Michael some time. I would imagine they feel like there's no use pushing him. LSU either will or will not offer. They probably feel like LSU won't, so they don't want to sour the kid and feel like he'll be there centerpiece recruit come February. That's just a guess. Not all 5 Stars pan out. Hell, K. Williams is still a question mark after 4 years. I wouldn't lose sleep over this. It's not like it's controversial or anything.
I'd say your analysis is exactly right concerning the Aggies and Michael. I am surprised that the Aggies have 25 verbals already. I know that there is a ton of talent in Texas, but I only expected the Longhorns to come close to filling up this early. Yep, you can never tell who will pan out. Justin Vincent was a 5 star, no need to revisit his recent history as everyone is well aware of it. Looking way back, Harvey Williams was a 5 star who did well from his freshman year until he left. You never know, there are injuries and other issues to players that look like they will be great, Alley Broussard, Cecil Collins, etc.. Given our RB history, this running back by commitee stuff may not be such a bad idea. At least none of our RB's are likely to lose playing time due to jock itch like USC's.:hihi::rofl:
Keiland Williams has been a solid contributor with flashes of brilliance. I'm glad he's stuck around with all the talent around him. We're stacked. I expect he'll look good this season and hope he gets significant playing time.
i'm still very split on this. I will be happy with whatever the outcome, though because both have their positives. Right now, I still don't see Michael signing with LSU. I'm having trouble picturing us taking 3 RBs plus a FB this year when we have bigger needs. It comes down to whether Michael makes himself a can't resist prospect, and while he certainly would be in most years, it may not be enough for this year. However, the coaches apparently believe that Trent Richardson is a can't resist prospect & he is a take, which means that the coaches aren't having as hard of a time imagining 3 RBs as I am, and that they are open to a RB making himself too talented to turn away. Pratt certainly looks big enough for the task. I do question whether the third RB would take the spot of a FB. Is it either get a FB or another RB? We need a FB, but if we take 3 RBs, perhaps we let one split time between both positions as Scott is now.
Perhaps LSU's fullback has become a hybrid role and the traditional notion we all think of is no longer really valid. It's a situational rotation. Was Shawn Jordan and Jacob Hester. Now Quinn Johnson and Charles Scott. Soon Tyler Edwards and Dexter Pratt? Just an idea.
My understanding is that if given a committable offer, Michael is a Tiger. But the only reason LSU has not made a committable offer to him is because they are waiting around to see how soft Trent Johnson's commitment to Alabama is. If true, I don't know if this is such a good strategy. No prospect likes to be treated like an ugly step-sister, and we could end up losing out on both. Any thoughts?
:geaux::crystal::helmet: The "Dandy One" is reporting in his update today that a commitment from Michael is close, possibly by this weekend. Info supposedly comes from some classmates. Any thoughts or updated info on this? :geauxtige:champs::LSU231:
Richardson is not the only reason we have not given Michael a committable offer. We haven't evaluated him in person yet because he did not make our camp. We will evaluate him during his Senior year & then will decide whether he deserves an offer, regardless of Richardson.
