So do I. Kid came back after terrible treatment by so called fans after trying to play injured. Chris worked his butt off to win this job, and he is the type to keep working. It is no accident that he won this job even after missing spring practice. While we are moving DE to LB and Corners to safety just to fill holes, this makes me much more hopeful for a good season.
Caudle is playing well. I was impressed by the 30-50 seconds of film I saw , the ball seemed to come out of his hand easier than Chris'. Neil is a good, athletic QB. (and the Kodi faction hates it when I say that Kodi is a good athlete playing QB) The thing most people do not recognize is how football smart Chris is. He understands what the offense is trying to accomplish, the why of the design, and works within the scheme. Chris has the arm to exploit all the options but doesn't fall in love with that arm. That doesn't mean he isn't aggressive, it does mean he knows how to set up the kill shot. Neil knows the reads, makes the throws, takes his shots. Just that I don't think he sees the whole chess board as well and the implications of the individual battles as how they relate to the overall strategy. The QB has to put everyone in the best position to be successful, know when a weakness is a weakness and how a weakness can represents an opportunity. Both prepare very well, but there is a difference between knowing what to do and understanding why.
Chris' dad (Brad) played ball (LB) at WKU...then for a VERY short time for the Denver Gold of the former USFL. He suffered a bad knee injury in his senior season at WKU, and couldn't recover enough to start with Denver...so he came back to NOLA to work...for my dad. This was back in the mid 80s when I was in high school. His dad is a great guy that spent a lot of time helping me learn to be a better pitcher while I was in HS. He was also a very good baseball player. I played softball with him for a while on a church team...and he could crush. Played a mean 3rd base, too...rocket arm. - I believe he had a geology degree...and when the oil field collapsed in the 80s, that is when he worked for my dad for a while. He and my brother were very good friends until he moved away. Eventually, he became a HS football coach...and of course coached his son Chris. So it comes as no surprise to me that Chris has the football smarts that Deceks speaks of. I wish him well...except against LSU. I met Chris once. He was one day old...born the same day as my neice...at the same hospital. I didn't spend much time with Chris...but he seemed like a big crybaby.:thumb:
Thanks for the update. Todd seems like a good kid. I think he'll do much better if he gets support from the staff and fans. Melick: Chris Todd's example makes it hard for others to quit
Kodi has made a permanent switch to WR. He will run some wildcat and take a snap here and there. He did score a TD in tonights scrimmage off a trick play. Tyrik tossed a 65 yard TD tonight playing with the 2s.
