I don't have you on ignore...but I disagree with you. If he wanted to be a baseball player so much more than he wants to be a football player, he would already have inked with the Dodgers. You really think he wants to play for Coach Manieri more than the friggin' LA Dodgers??
He and his family has talked a bunch about his love for football and how he doesn't want his football career to end. The reason we are hearing mostly about baseball now is because of the draft. Remember he is on a football scholarship as well and baseball will come second but he may play more baseball during next spring because the baseball team has more of a need for him than we do but he will be at a majority of the LSU football practices. Also remember he is taking a break from baseball this summer to focus on school and summer football practices as well. I believe Les already knows of Lee's plans and some are saying that the Dodgers aren't even talking with him. Lee also turned down trips to visits the club to focus on his classes. And if any kid can excel at both it would be him based on his competitiveness and athleticism. He will not have to fluctuate his weight to the extremes like Chad Jones had to either. Maybe the Dodgers come through unexpectedly with a ton of money but with their financial crisis I highly doubt it. It could happen.
But if they do, playing baseball for Manieri will not factor in his decision. However, playing football will. Baseball for millions of dollars vs baseball for free? Pretty easy choice there. However, if he really wants to further his football playing days, this is his shot at doing that. AND he still gets to play baseball. Just depends on where his head/heart is. Seems like it's on football to me. Like I said, he could already be playing baseball.
and he wants to play football for LSU more than making millions with the friggin' LA Dodgers? what i meant was that he wants to come to LSU and experience college. i haven't read any quotes from him singing the accolades of LSU football like he has with LSU baseball. i'm not saying that he hasn't, but i haven't read them. the kid obviously has the talent to do both, but at the same time? i don't think he's coming to LSU solely to play football, if you think that, you're nuts, man. kids turn down millions all the time to play college baseball.
Go look back at some quotes from his football recruitment not everything around the MLB draft. His family has also mentioned how much he wants to continue playing football on another board. College experience is a reason too.
i don't think the only reason we are hearing about him and baseball is because of the draft. the kid is first-round talent, he dropped a bit because he was adamant on coming to LSU and playing baseball and football, but he's a first-rounder. i don't think it's crazy to believe that he is interested in LSU mainly because of baseball, and any football he could play here would simply be lagniappe. i also think that LSU coaches allowing him to play both football and baseball was a huge factor as well. i know a lot of you don't get off on baseball like i do, but it's a kind of a big thing at LSU.
i keep looking, can't find them. i believe you, but i just think that baseball at LSU is important, it's not just all football all the time.
Baseball is but it sounded like you were saying that football wasn't that important to Lee. My bad... Sounds about even to me and it will come down to who offers him more money in the pros like with Chad Jones IMO.
if i may interject.... this likely has nothing to do with z lee, other than now we really need him to come in and hope he lights the world on fire. if it were just about making numbers, there were likely much better targets. if this were about whether or not to give incentive to lee, i dont think we would see lee enrolled in summer school and being so positive about lsu given he has been long before this hit, and when he believed there were three qb's in front of him. imo, this is solely about cg and his behavior, whatever that was.
no, football is the most important sport at LSU, i just thought it was an interesting topic since the kid is highly regarded as both a pitcher and a QB -- positions that are tough to handle at the collegiate level. to be great in both would be no small feat, that's for sure. and okie, i think that ZL may have a lot more to do with CG being let go than people would like to admit. you saw how CLM promised the world to RS that he was going to get a shot at QB -- he got that shot, but he also realized he's not a college QB -- now maybe CLM promised a lot to zach lee to get him in school? also, you have to think that QBs like CG are almost a dime a dozen -- he was "only" a three-star, ya know.
