I wouldnt call Matt Flynn a pro-style QB, the guy could run and he wasnt afraid to run. I think he was a combination of the 2. When was the last time a pro-style QB, won the NC. I think Leinart was the last one.
But Flynn was a pass first QB and ran to escape pressure and on designed running plays. You do not have to be slow to be a pro-style QB but I see what your saying because I think he would be efficeint in both styles if he had to. I think you will see that Jordan Jefferson is going to be a pro-style as well b/c he does not run unless he has to.
Thats exactly what I am saying, everyone is so excited about getting a pro-style QB, well if he cant run, he might be in some trouble in the SEC. If you dont have a great offense line with a slow QB, you are definitely in some trouble. Just ask John Sarah Jessica Parker Wilson and the bama nation about that.
Pro style, drop back, conventional, whatever you wanna call it. I don't make the definitions...it's just how they are categorized by the services. As far as I can tell, you were the one that brought Flynn into this discussion. I don't see where anybody said Flynn was or wasn't a "pro style" QB...and I don't see what he has to do with this discussion. Obviously, to me anyway...LSU is looking to bring a diverse offense to the table in the next couple of years. IMHO, that's why you see them going after two completely different styles of QB. You asked who the last "pro-style" QB to win the NC, I give you Chris Leak. You'll say "but he had Tebow", and I'll say "But we'll have Sheppard". Who's a 6'2 220lb pro style QB that LSU has committed? Again, how does Alabama's QB fit into this discussion?
