I said logjam b/c he walked into a situation with one QB who had a year of experience but a lot of problems, and another QB who showed flashes of promise, but very little experience. The last thing Miles was going to do after the year of the pick-6 was throw yet another inexperienced QB into the mix before he was SEC-ready, and that meant sitting behind JJ and JL. I don't know what Les told Garrett and his dad. Maybe that he'd have a chance to compete for the starting spot, but I can't believe he ever made promises that indicated he was going to get immediate PT. And if he was really that good, we'd be hearing spring practice stories about Garrett tearing it up and making JJ nervous, and we got...nothing. At the very least he could've moved up the depth chart to put JL at #3. Instead, it appears Garrett was looking at a walk-on taking that spot ahead of him. That indicates a serious problem, the most likely culprit being a lack of effort for whatever reason. And if that's the case, that is not someone we need on the team.
Kid wants to play, I wish him luck Miles has to make tough decisons, it's part of his job. Of course, I'm sure some here think he's so stupid he just kicked Brett Farve off the team.:milesmic:
Favre isn't a college QB. He plays for Oak Grove High School, just up the road from me. He's a pretty hot prospect though.
This. The kid is a very talented QB or we wouldn't have gone after him. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs their head examined. I wish the young man luck at his new school. I had hopes that he would develop further and be more of a factor here, but these things happen. Lucky for Garrett though, he will get to play in Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night. September 10, 2011.. That said, as much potential as he has he's either a Tiger, or he's Tigerbait! He made his choice.
I agree with you Swerved. But I still don't get it. I find it hard to believe the kid's skin is so thin that a challenge caused him to pack up. No way Zach Lee is that good that he thought he wasn't going to get a shot - there has to be something else.
I loved Rohan, that 2001 season was very special. We got a glimpse of who would be leading us even further that year. There is a very long list of extremely successful college quarterbacks who didn't go on to shine in the NFL for one reason or another.
