This supports the notion that he simply wasn't an SEC caliber player. No bigger a loss than Craig Nall was. 2theadvocate.com | Sports | Chris Garrett chooses Northwestern — Baton Rouge, LA
Craig Nall could have started for multiple SEC teams. He transfered to Northwestern State (just as Garrett is doing) so that he could play immediately. Nall was the first quarterback in NSU history to surpass 2,000 yards passing in a season and went on to spent another 7 years in the NFL. I'd say that's a pretty big loss considering or current QB situation.
Garrett signed with LSU knowing full well he was walking into a QB logjam, but then up and leaves a year later solely because he wasn't getting PT? That doesn't add up.
unless he thought he was better than he is and should pass jj and jl. and disgruntled if the coaches didnt think so. i dont know what happened. just saying that would cause it to add up.
He came with good credentials. He was overshadowed with Shephard coming in supposedly at QB. But his downfall was that he wasn't putting forth the effort to play QB at this level as it has been stated. Not sure what that means but he apparently wasn't meeting the "milestones" he was supposed to meet so he gave up.
I dont want to turn this into a Jefferson dogpile and everyone knows I am one of the biggest sunshine pumpers here. but how can we have a "QB Logjam" when we had the 112th ranked offense in college football with one, and the other although someone with great character cannot help but throw the ball into the chests of the opposing team as much as possible. I would say QB logjam is far from the truth. We have two guys who can throw a football and one who is a freshman. I would say if there is anything we could use more of is more options at QB. I wish him best, I have close ties with the Northwestern Family and spend many a night in Natchitoches. Since they went 0-11 last year I hope they get better. But losing a QB of any talent is never a good thing.
