Yes, that what makes the great LSU plays of the game so memorable. Had we lost, nobody would care too much about the great plays LSU players had. For example, look at Ohio State's All-American middle LB James Laurinaitis -- the guy made one of the greatest defensive plays I've seen when he smacked Hester in mid-air at the goal line, and completely denied Hester for the TD. But you're not going to see too many Buckeyes going around bragging how great that play was in their history. To put it another way: most LSU fans would have never heard about Billy Cannon's kick return had #3 Ole Miss beat us in that game.
Thats was a great one to be sure This ones still my favorite... http://youtube.com/watch?v=FyKLNQv1rJw
That would get my vote for the most important interception of the 2007 season. Some other poster on TF pointed that it's been a long time since LSU has suffered from weak CB play, but I remember those years. Seniors Jonathan Zenon (#19) and Chevis Jackson (#21), although they weren't on the level of a Corey Webster, deserve a lot of credit for our 2007 Undisputed National Championship. Thanks, guys.
Speaking of how great Chevis Jackson's interception was in the BCS National Championship game vs. #1 Ohio State, check out how jacked Coach Pelini was about it in this pic here: http://uk.news.yahoo.com/ap/20080108/img/psp-bcs-championship-footba-08dbe1b16e740.html
Here's a story that Roy Lang of Gannett Louisiana did on how great the Chevis Jackson interception was: Lafayette Daily Advertiser ("Jackson's interception turns tide") -- http://www.theadvertiser.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2008801080325 Shreveport Times ("Interception gives Tigers momentum") -- http://www.shreveporttimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080108/SPORTS0202/801080343/1028 Alexandria Town Talk ("Interception under pressure turned tide for LSU") -- http://www.thetowntalk.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080108/SPORTS/801080340 As that story points out, this is what Coach Miles had to say about Jackson's INT: "That really stemmed the tide," LSU head coach Les Miles said. "Our defense started to settle down and they really couldn't score with us."
