why hasn't there been a running back who helps chip block or tight end who stays near the line of scrimmage for Jefferson to check down to if no one is open upfield? Seems to me like alot of sacks could have been avoided by doing this, and alot of yards could be gained from this. Am i just crazy?

The fullback has almost disappeared from the offense this year. No one blocking for the tailback, no one picking up the blitz, no one slipping out into the flat for a pass.

Dude I'm still trying to figure out why we hardly ever use screens when it's all but guaranteed that teams are going to blitz Jefferson a lot to rattle him.

even in shotgun formations instead of empty backfields, having Dickson in the backfield or Scott back there, to chip, and then drop off in case Jefferson cant find anyone. It would give Jefferson an extra blocker, a little more time, and an option if none of the receivers are open upfield, or he is too scared to throw it to one of them. Dinking and Dunking is better than nothing. I was excited at first when we were showing alot of 5 wide empty earlier this season, but that formation has turned out to be an utter failure.

We have, but they failed to work, generally because Jefferson starts scrambling too early instead of falling back and letting the pass rush come. The screen fails if they read it or the QB turns it into a scramble.

screen pass to charles scott was one of the most successful plays we had in the 2nd half against UF.

Yea thats not Jeffersons fault, if the line doesnt block on a screen or receivers the play is blown up then.

If never seen Jefferson scramble on a screen play.

We gotta get the WRs to run pass routes on passing plays instead of run blocking before anything else!
