So he's not willingly sabotaging the team; He's incompetent? You know, sometimes the other team just plays better than you do. It's not a sign that they're more talented or that they played harder. Sometimes they just play better and you play worse. Usually LSU still wins out on those, but that's not always going to happen. You throw a couple interceptions in the end zone and that's almost never going to happen. C'est la vie...
Sometimes they play better, but if you're disciplined and well-coached you still win those games. Ole Miss was that example. They deserved to win and yet we had a chance to force a punt and drive for the win at the end. Accepting that they played better isn't a good excuse for not winning. Maybe the coaching staff and team were busy watching Bama pound Ole Miss rather than game-planning for them. Who knows, it's all speculation at this point.
TO margin ended up being -1, so let's not blow those interceptions out of proportion. Ole Miss, missing numerous starters, shouldn't have been able to beat us. This was a bad loss. And the Georgia loss is looking worse every week. Troubling for a top 5-10 resources program and top 5-10 recruiting program.
Sticking with Fulmer was not the answer. Bad choices were made after Fulmer, but staying mediocre with Fulmer wasn't good enough, IMO. The troubles that followed are a risk you take and that risk is the price for resetting a stagnant program.
That's a lame post to defend miles. Who somewhat resembles a clueless fullmer. I'd rather attempt to win than settle for 2nd. Which he did mostly. Even with manning. Looks like our position from now on as well. At best.
I'm also going from past history with LSU. Nebraska has suffered in a similar fashion since Solich's firing, as well. It may seem at the time like it's a good idea in an effort to move a team forward; however, it never seems to work. Can you name a time when a winning coach was fired, and the program got better any time soon thereafter?
About as close as you might come, would be Texas Tech firing Leach. However he wasn't fired for not winning enough and Kingsbury is off to a 7-0 start, which is just a start. Also is muddling around for three seasons under Tuberville considered soon?
Everything in this post makes sense. No school has done well after firing a winning coach. Its not like there is mediocrity here so why change? I truly get and understand your and others mindset when it comes to Miles. All that said, for me and Im sure others its not just the wins. For me, its not the losses, its how they happen. Its that we have seen the same game replayed with no adjustments on a strategy that clearly isnt working. Yet we keep going back. End of the halve/game clock management is all about focus, attention to detail, and discipline. Is it a real wonder why the D doesnt have any of that? There is no excuse for a well paid coach to make those same mistakes every game. None. That is my issue with Miles, its not just the W or L.
