LOL it takes time for the great players to understand the game plan , they did this week, we are going to have a lot of fun next season if we can keep our tema together . How many D players left us with a D that was not ready to play as starters , ??

As upset as I have been with the LSU Defense this year, I am hoping these couple of solid games are a glimpse of what we will see next year (minus Welter).

Welter? The guy who was the leading tackler last Saturday and had three quarterback hurries forcing incompletions?

Welter is the worst MLB at LSU in the past 15 years. Strong case for ever.

The defense was fanstastic Saturday. However, I do not think that the players sudenly "matured" and began to understand the system. Instead, for the very first time this year, we finally saw a DIFFERENT APPROACH on defense. We played man coverage and capitalized on our greatest asset (athleticsm), instead of insistence on playing zone which clearly confused the players to no end. Further, the defense never went into prevent mode and stayed on the attack all night.

Chavis deserves credit for the change and for calling a great game. I simply wish this is something we could have tried earlier in the year.

Ok, I've been quiet about the non-stop Welter bashing but guess I will chime in now.

First off, he is evidently our best option at mlb a decided by likely the best dc & lb coach we've had here.

Secondly, I could name about 50 lb's at lsu who were likely much worse considering they couldn't get into the two or three deep on the depth chart.

Third, the constant over the top bashing of a Tiger who plays his heart out is very disheartening to me. Kind of makes me sick to my stomach.

When one of OUR players doesn't meet your expectations why the need to make it so personal. Hell, might as well attack every back up on the team too.

Not sure I see it being personal. If I talked about his momma or greasy Grammy then sure that is personal. Saying he is not good is not personal. Shit I suck at some sports but it isn't personal.

Fist off, I wasn't personal. Your reading comprehension betrays you.

Secondly, it was a response to someone pointing out that Welter finally decided to have a game with more than 2 tackles.

Third, constant misinterpretation of everything on this board is disheartening to me. Kind of makes me stick to my stomach.

When a fan talks about player/coaching ability that doesn't fit your mold of ass-kissing, why the need to exaggerate it? Hell, might as well defend Al-Qaeda too.
