To coach Tennessee... Pretty smart given Dooley is the coach and likley gone soon. Plus he had comments today and even teared up about his players and how he sees himself coaching another 8-10 years. Please Retire here...
B, I posted this earlier..... Quote: UT offered LSU defensive coordinator John Chavis the DC job at over $1 million a year. He declined. Chavis coached at UT from 1989-2008.— Jimmy Hyams (@JimmyHyams) Next: Derek Dooley has talked today with Clemson defensive coordinator Kevin Steele and there is a good chance Steele will be joining the Tennessee staff. Guess Dooley missed the game last night? Like I said, the AD at UT is doing some damage there.
I hope Chavis spends the rest of his days at LSU... to turn down a million says a lot about the guy. Guess he loves him some LSU, or knows UT won't be relevant anytime soon.
The AD at UT is not doing the football program any favors....Chief would like to retire at LSU and has told many people the same thing. Why would he leave this stable program to go there? Hes doing just what he likes to do, "coach." Pete Jenkins was one that was set in his ways. Let those guys do what they do best.
Well I'm sure the Chief loves Tenn as well. He was there for so long. But he sees the benefit of this program. I mean you get to coach the some of the top players in the nation year in and year out. LSU's program and continual top recruiting is a coaches dream.
Exactly. He knew that snagging the Chief would likely save his azz. That particular life line is gone now, thank goodness. The Chief needs to retire right where he's at!
Wow.......that's some brass ones to come after Chavis after the way they treated him in the end. If I were LSU i would make sure chief would never go anywhere for more money.
Tell you what I think...our d is loaded any of us could have had a good season with these kids but chief has run some great schemes and has proven himself to be a master. I think he likes it at LSU and will be here until the end of his coaching life. We were real fortunate to snag him.
