"Over the past week or so, two people we usually get great info from have said they would put their money on Chavis. but it isn't a done deal yet. Also, it's interesting that Rodney Garner told Reshad Jones to keep an open mind about the new DC. If we could bring in someone that would feature him like UT features Eric Berry, he should stay. It's a pretty easy sell to Jones that Chavis knows how to showcase Eric Berry. Especially considering that Berry had 3 sacks and 12 interceptions while playing for Chavis (2 years), but 0 sacks and only 2 interceptions playing for Kiffin for one year."

Chavis was well-known for some of his devastating aggressive, blitz-happy attack D's during his years at UT (one of which was responsible for a National Championship). He plays smart with his personnel, and sometimes playing smart is not going blitz crazy.

One of the best comments on defensive philosophy I've read on this board.

Anyway, I personally think Chavis likes what he sees in LSU's future and plans on staying, but it would not be in his best interest to act like there are no other opportunities out there and refuse to entertain the idea. I prefer a coach that has seen what's available and still chooses LSU to coach for. If they choose to go on to other opportunities, congratulations and wish you the best, sorry we're going to kick your new teams butt next time we play. That is just the business side of football...and it's just like any of you would at least listen to the details of any job offering you a raise, regardless whether you go or stay.

    Happy Holidays!

Now you know ChollyMac was a bear's boy from Kentuck days? I think coach Bryant thought a lot of him but he was cagey.

I on the other hand have no agenda except universal appeal. Not easy, but these emotional commitments can take a while.

I enjoy your viewpoints but the vocal minority seems to struggle with your concepts.

Hang in there, sometimes it's hard to make out who's who in a thick purple haze.

I guess were both living on the high wire.

It's Geaux Tigers. LOL Although I gotta give ya props for not putting the "L" at the end. Thats pretty cool, not quite the P & G we Tiger fans prefer, but hey we'll take all the help we can get. Your spot on the bandwagon has just opened up.:geaux:

Yep, Chavis is staying with a raise.

I read somewhere that Richt is now saying he won't have a DC hired until after the 15th which likely means he is getting an NFL guy, Reggie Herring from the Cowboys possibly.
