Ok, I'm not naive enough to think he would come back as a college OC after having just been a head coach nor am I sure I would want him. He's got too much pride and arrogance. If he's gonna be an OC anywhere at all, it's in the pros. That said, would you be happy if he was brought in as OC? ND's problems this year were never offensively. He runs a pro style offense and can recruit. So yay or nay to 'ole puddin' pants' if he was offered the OC job? Could you get past your hate for ND?
No. I think that he can run an offense effectively but I think his arrogance and swagger (or is it waddle?) would make him try to wrestle control away from Miles. Plus, I think he would only come with a salary that would be the most we've ever paid for an OC. Plus, being that he's a former Head Coach, I would be wary of him bailing out when the first chance to do that again came along :tigereye:
The guy is a great offensive coordinator, and does wonders with his QBs. Brady and Clausen. He would do wonders with JJ/Garrett plus, with NFL experience he would be a great recruiter With that being said.... He's way too egotistic and would immediatly try to get as much power as possible. He'd probably be a 2-3 year guy, have our offense in the top 10 then bolt to a head coaching or NFL job.
I think it would be an improvement to what we have currently. I know he is egotistical but I think he has reason to be (a la OC for the Pats). I'd love to have him as an OC and I think the AD and Miles have the intelligence to stipulate he is not going to be running the entire team. Hell, if the Ogre can do it at Tennessee then why not Weiss at LSU? He might bolt within 2-3 years but that's all we need for right now anyways. He could glamour up the job for us and make it appealing to some big names down the road. Now, will we get him? Highly doubtful.
i don't think ole front butt would want to come here. i'd take him though, but i do wonder about his control issues/loyalty.
