Notre Dame made it a trifecta on Saturday, getting their third commitment from the Golden State, this one in the form of Joseph Fauria, the 6-7, 250-pound tight end from Crespi HS in Encino.

“I came out here for the spring game, and it just felt right,” said Fauria. “It felt like the place I want to be. It was my first time ever being there and in one word, I’d say it was beautiful. That’s what it was.” Fauria follows fellow Californian’s Anthony McDonald and Dayne Crist, who both play at Serra League rival Notre Dame in Sherman Oaks

It's still early. Let's see how it shakes out next LOI day. I am baffled though as to why Lou Holtz led the irish onto the field yesterday for their spring game and was seemingly on the sidelines doing the coaching. How does ESPN retain his services with such nonsense?

I hope they lose every recruit on signing day like last year.

I haven't looked over ND's schedule next year, but I think their team is going to struggle. How would an 8 or 9 win season impact recruiting?

Hey, Jabba the Hut doesn't have to sell Tatooine. Tatooine sells itself.

I definitely agree with you Parso. :thumb:
Here's their schedule and I've highlighted what I believe to be 3 loses for sure, and wouldn't be a bit surprised to see UCLA whup 'em too.

    First, let’s look at ND:
They lose three starters on the defensive line –defensive ends Victor Abiamiri and Chris Frome and defensive tackle Derek Landri, and lost defensive end Ronald Talley -- the only Irish backup with any real playing time -- as a transfer to Delaware this offseason. Returning fifth-year senior defensive tackle, Trevor Laws, a defensive tackle but they moved him to defensive end in Corwin Brown's new scheme.

They return two starters at defensive back - rising senior cornerback Terrail Lambert and fifth-year Tom Zbikowski - and another player, fifth-year Ambrose Wooden, who started in 2005 until an injury in the Michigan game slowed him for most of 2006. At corner, Lambert returns after starting most of last season. He made 40 tackles and was second on the team with three interceptions.

Opposite him will most likely be Wooden, who played in nine games and had 21 tackles as he battled with injuries in the 2006 season. In 2005, Wooden was the full-time starter and was third on the team in tackles with 74, and two interceptions.

In the spring game, none of the four possible BQ replacements did anything remarkable. Evan Sharpley had the best passing numbers, completing five of seven passes for 31 yards, but he also had a fumble. Demetrius Jones was 3-of-6 passing with an ugly 15-yard TD pass to Robby Parris. But he also overthrew a pass to tight end John Carlson that safety David Bruton intercepted and returned 35 yards for a touchdown. Jones also had a 31-yard run on a third-and-19.

Clausen, who remember why he said he was going to ND...... "to try to get four national championship rings" was 3-of-7 passing against.........a ND defense. Mr Man did have a chance to be a hero. His team, the Blue, got the ball at its own 35-yard line with 2 minutes left, but his only completion was called back on a pass interference.

    Georgia Tech:
Offensively lost Reggie Ball and Calvin Johnson but return a veteran Oline with Tashard Choice, the lead rusher in the Atlantic Coast Conference last season. At the QB position: Taylor Bennett, donning the green jersey and leading the first offense during the practice, threw five touchdown passes while spreading the ball around to numerous receivers. He continued to establish himself as the starter with a strong outing.

Defensively, they return eight starters from a 9 & 5 teamlast year.

    Penn State:
    Offensively:
Don’t forget Penn State quarterback Anthony Morelli talking about making a run at the 2007 national championship immediately after a 20-10 Outback Bowl victory over Tennessee.
Austin Scott, a four-star prospect, He instead redshirted and spent the rest of the year working as Penn State's scout-team running back. He was healthy enough to return at some point last fall but chose to save his year of eligibility to make an NC run. Very well-respected by his teammates, since, as a blue-chipper, he NEVER complained about being on scout-team.

    Defensively:
They return all of their secondary. Lost one LB and a couple of positions open on D line.

    USC:
I realize many here have strong feelings about USC but their defense has the makings to be sic next year. They will bitch slap the domers in their own front yard.......that's right, not backyard- front yard......to make sure all the neighbors see. :hihi:

They certainly won't get past Michigan, and Mich St. and BC will probably be a stretch for them. Those teams are not transitioning on the same scale on offense and already have better defenses. Next year will definitely leave a mark...

Wonder how this draft makes ND look. 2 pretty good players from ND, the safety & RB Darius Walker went undrafted. Weiss likes to use his connections to the NFL as a recruiting tool, but it doesn't look like that is paying off for his players the way he'd hoped. Also, Quinn dropping to 22 doesn't help.

Weiss wont be able to use the "NFL connections" card in future recruiting without other teams using it negatively against him. He pushed BQ HARD but his former colleagues in the NFL basically said "no thanks". That is a huge testament against Weiss especially considering Miami should really have picked him instead of a glorified return guy who is hurt to boot. Despite the very public endorsements from Weiss, the two teams who really needed a young QB passed on him the first chance they had. Weiss is gonna have to pocket that trump card because it has clearly come up empty.
