I don't remember anyone ever before being so informed about the teams playing on the field as Charles Davis. Dude does his homework and then some. He even knew the names of one of the lesser known coaches on our coaching staff when the camera panned there. The guy knows his stuff. Very refreshing.
i'll say this, i liiked him better than others. i've only rewatched the game once in bits and pieces but he seemed to know his stuff. for example: he mentioned lafell's problems with drops earlier in the season. verne and gary knew that but they covered LSU all season and this was davis' first run. overall giving the guy the benefit of the doubt, i kinda liked him.
Thanks. I did indeed hear what I thought I heard. :thumb: One very minor slip up in an overall outstanding commentary.
In total contrast was veteran broadcaster/reporter Chris Meyers repeatedly calling Craig Steltz 'Eric'. He did catch himself later on but I'll bet someone whispered it to him in his headset.
Overall, I thought the broadcast team was very good. For one thing, the guys in the booth didn't feel the need to endlessly comment on inane things just to fill air time.
Wasn't that Jimmy Johnson during the pregame? Pretty sure it was. At that point, I tuned into Jim Hawthorne and muted the TV. Until the second half when, somehow, the radio got a full play ahead of the TV - forced to go back to announcers - who seemed to do a pretty good job.
