Speaking of JJ: Well he isn't throwing stupid ass interceptions when he is in trouble, showing maturity beyond his years to just take the sack, I love it! If you arent comfortable throwing the ball where you know a defender is not going to be then eat it! With time (as he gets more experience and with a better line) he will be able to make more throws but be patient, it's insane how people are so judgmental of this kid!
nah not really overly judgmental. its fair criticism. he didnt get a pass off on the first two pt conversion when he had 4 seconds or so. you have to force it in. he will learn when its ok to take chances and let the athletes make plays. its just too fast for him right now.
Agree with you. CLM has been waiting for the UF game to let him pass - to maximize the element of surprise, like UF did against us with Tebows first jump pass.
I truly believe this, and I think that after the Florida game we'll see a lot more looks on offense. Also think we'll see a lot more of our talented freshmen. :geaux:
I agree with you. But, I also think that Florida knows this as well as we do, and they're going to be waiting for Shep to throw it. And if Les and Gary are smart, they'll try to exploit the rushing lanes provided if Florida does that. Maybe have Shep throw a screen to Holliday.
I still don't buy it. As careful as they've been in trying to bring Jefferson along, I seriously doubt that they use this game to conduct an experiment. And I wouldn't, either. I think they need to stick with the look that they were eating Georgia's lunch with in the first half. . .Holiday next to Shepard. Give the Gators a taste of their own medicine. And for good measure, throw a reverse or two in there. Keep them off-balance while minimizing the risk. The biggest thing that LSU needs to focus on is protecting Jefferson. He needs to learn how to step up in the pocket over the course of the next 5 days. A minor adjustment like that can make a world of difference.
You know, i really dont understand what the big deal is with RS passing. Dont get me wrong, it would be cool to see, but why the big hope for it?
Hopefully that no one is UF. Hit 'em with something they haven't seen on film in their "week of leisure".
Here's my thoughts on Shepard. "If" we continue to use him like we have, his redshirt year is wasted. Lets remember he was supposedly recruited here as a QB. He hasnt gotten any experience throwing the ball. He hasnt gotten any experience running the offense. His runs have been largely insignificant and he hasnt had a game changing or momentum altering play. He's only touched the ball maybe 15-20 times this year? And it's been all run except for one pass reception. How is that developing him as a QB? Shep doesnt need development as a runner unless thats where Miles will be using him throughout his career. I think Miles is confused on how to use and develop Shep long term. If he ends the year averaging 3 touches a game with no passes it will be a monumental fail for Russell Shepard the "QB". If he's not going to be gaining experience as a QB then lets start using him more. He simply needs more touches even if they arent passes. The guy is dynamite so lets get the ball in his hands often. As of now he hasnt touched it enough to warrant playing him this year.
