A discussion in another thread had me wondering just what the mood is like around here regarding the football team and expectations thereof. So I decided to just ask the questions straight out in plain terms. All questions ask for answers based on what we know now and what you think will likely occur between now and the end of the season. 1) What do you think our regular season record will be? 2) What do you think our chances are (in percentages) of winning the SEC West? 3) Of winning the SEC? 4) Of winning the National Championship? ldskule::geaux:ldskule:
I'll start with mine: 1) 11-1. We'll be great, but this schedule is likely to be too much of a grind for any team to escape unschathed. 2) 50% chance of winning the SEC West. Nobody's in as good a shape as we are (imo), but there are enough other teams with chances that we are as likely to not win it as win it. 3) 45% chance of winning the SEC. The West should be the strongest by a good bit this year, and I just don't expect any team in the East to be able to stand up to the top teams of the West. 4) 33% chance of winning the National Championsihp. Yes, the SEC Champion has won the last 5, but eventually that will end. I don't expect it to be this year, but there's always a chance (about 12%, I guess :yelwink2 That's where my mood stands. How about y'all? ldskule::geaux:ldskule:
the Las Vegas Hilton had us at 12-1 (8%) Oklahoma at 9-2 (22%) Bama at 5-1 (20%) Oregon at 8-1 (12%) Boise St at 12-1 (8%) Stanford at 20-1 (5%) Ohio St at 20-1 (5%) Florida St at 20-1 (5%) Texas at 20-1 (5%) Nebraska at 20-1 (5%) etc BCS National Championship 2012: Las Vegas Odds to Win and Picks - Associated Content from Yahoo! - associatedcontent.com
And that would be one of many, MANY reasons I am thankfully not a gambling man! Wow, really surprised to see Bama that much higher than us. And Texas as high as Stanford, Ohio State and Nebraska? That seems like an awful lot of respect for Mack Brown coming off a losing season. ldskule::geaux:ldskule:
I have two diffrent takes on the season scenario 1: jj struggles much like last year. Lee comes in to spell him in some games. Mett sees limited playing time where as miles refuses to throw him in too early in his development. Lsu 10-3 at worst 11-2 at best second in west Bcs bowl game scenario2: jj plays a role as change of pace qb. Jj comes in to test a team's ability to stop a running qb. Jj plays only when he is on a hot streak and sits when he is suffering from poor play. Mett is able to throw the ball well. Mett is everthing we hope him to be. He takes over 60% of snaps and starts by seasons end. Throws for 18 td's on season 2100 yards jj runs 600 yards on season lsu 12-0 at best or at worst Lsu 11-1 sec champs national champ. Note if jj only plays lsu loses at least 3 if not 4. Jj can not lead this team alone. Lee saved at least two games if not three last year. This is not a 10 win team with jj alone.
1) What do you think our regular season record will be? 12-0 if a quarterback emerges. 9-3 otherwise. 2) What do you think our chances are (in percentages) of winning the SEC West? 50% 3) Of winning the SEC? 50% 4) Of winning the National Championship? 25%
This is the best answer I've seen...or at least the one that most closely resembles my opinion. It isn't about who plays QB...it's ALL about whether or not WHOEVER plays QB plays well.
I don't think you could more accurately describe what any given poster really means when they describe the best answer they've seen. That kind of honesty deserves reputation points. :thumb:
