I think they just wanted to redshirt him to stagger the class a bit, Moore was working out so well. But the redshirt off now, so he may be getting a lot of work this week. Or not. Sometime freshmen don't catch on to a complex offensive playbook right away. Mistakes will kill us against Bama.
It has been seen on film and teams are ready for it. We will use it again, but we will have to catch the defense out of position. That will require Harris being able to make calls at the line. Nick's defenses are too sophisticated to allow Harris to get all of his checks from the sidelines. Bama will not line up early where they will be when the ball is snapped.
I don't think there is a formal process of "pulling a redshirt." Once he plays it's pulled by default. Don't know the whole rule about it but players who play limited minutes in the first 2 or 3 games as well as players who are injured can still be redshirted. Probably have to file an appeal with the NCAA
What about LSU running some tempo for a few series this week? I actually think we are pretty good at it and equipped on the offense to do it pretty well. I think it does eliminate some of the at the line calls that Harris has to make or check in to. I assume little Nicky will be ready for that as well, but if we can tempo for 7-8 plays in a row (for 2-3 series in the game), we might be able to catch Bama out of position
