I realize that our chances at a NC are almost zero, but these 2007 Tigers are Champions in my eyes. Our record stands at 10-2 and we're headed to the SECCG. Our resume reveals a thrashing over highly ranked Va Tech (headed to ACCCG); wins over Florida (last years NC), Auburn (CTT), Alabama (revenge on CNS), the Ole Ball Coach and bowl-bound Miss St. We have another big game against a pretty good (and ranked) UTenn team for the SEC TITLE and a trip to a BCS Bowl as a reward. This team has given us more drama, and come from behind victories this year than in the last 10 yrs combined. This has been the wildest CF season that most of us can remember and its not over yet. This team has battled through injuries to numerous key players, distractions; players with off-the-field trouble, rumors of CLM heading for Michigan, BP going to UN and twice being ranked #1 in the country, and still no team has been able to beat us during regulation. Our Tigers have heart and they have character. I don't care if we get Hawaii or Mizzou in the Sugar, or USC/tOSU in the Rose, BC in the Orange, or a rematch with OU in the Fiesta Bowl. Our Tigers will be rested, focused and hungry, no matter who is coaching. Somebody is gonna get eaten alive come bowl time. In my opinion, if we beat UT next Saturday night and win our BCS Bowl game.....our Tigers will have just as much a right to be called National Champions as whoever the BCS selects...... and we all know the BCS is a bunch of bologna anyway. :geaux:
This has been quite a ride - and it's not over yet. To say it has been dramatic is quite an understatement! ldskule:
Well said... Hope there's enough gas left in the tank to win the SECCG and then rest up and get healthy for our bowl game. :geauxtige
I think too many long time LSU fans tend to forget what used to happen when a Tiger team fell behind. I can remember praying before every game that we would jump out far enough ahead to absorb the inevitable come back by the opposing team.
IMO, if we win Sat and either Mizzou or WV loses, LSU has just as much a right to play for the NC as anyone. Maybe, Mizzou loses and the BCS leaves us hanging at #3, the AP will pick up the slack ala 2003 and we can have the worthless AP NC as a consolation prize for such a spectaculor season. As wild as its been so far, who knows what will happen!!! :geaux:
I am very glad you put the word "worthless" in there. I really hope no one in TF puts any value in the AP Poll if we are ranked highly by them at the end of the season. That would be embarssing.
Never say never. I can't wait to see which tune the country is singing if Mizzou or WV lose, especially if we look good vs UT. We'll be stuck at #3 or #4 and get to listen to the media talk about tOSU playing in the BCSNC for a month. ERRGH!!!
I'll take 10-2 and SECCG, BCS bowl every year man. You gotta be kidding me, how can you gripe about this type of a season. We can always want more, but this has been a great year.
