Almost had OSU vs. Michigan in the MNC a couple years ago... To me, a team in a conference with a championship game is very much justified in qualifying for the MNC. Same situation for OSU and Michigan, or USC and Oregon... They could get two in because of not having a conference championship...
And he would be correct. Voters would not want to see a rematch of a game that just played (SEC CG). They would however, be interested if the SEC Champs could beat LSU, whom they lost to earlier in the season. And LSU never loses in the championship game, so the intrigue would be that much more heightened.
You guys are so funny. You know that the biased left coast loving media will have a 3-loss USC team ranked No. 2 in the polls so that LSU is beat out of a chance to play in the MNC in a rematch against the evil empire. I would love to know what kind of closed-door contract Lou has with ND to keep artifically igniting their hopes and dreams with an epi pen year after year. Maybe he should stab himself with the epi pen...
I like this scenario better! LSU beats Bama and Florida (and the other 10 teams LSU plays this year), Georgia upsets Florida in a really tough, closely fought game (maybe Tebow is hurt for part/all of it), but otherwise Florida runs the table. LSU beats Georgia in a rematch in the SECCG - would the voters keep Florida out of the title game? I think they'd be less likely to do so than they would to keep LSU out of it if the original scenario played itself out. I don't know if they would keep out the potentially 2-time Heisman winner out, the defending champs, etc. This assumes that USC doesn't go undefeated.
Sorry. I forgot to turn my sarcasm indicator light on.:hihi: - I was making light of the fact the  made it as a 2 loss team...'member?
No chance that the undefeated winner of the SECCG gets left out, with the possible exception of Auburnt and old piss (cause they deserve it)
The only way this happens is if the Big-10, Big-12, Pac-10, ACC and Big East champs (plus ND), all have 2 losses and LSU only has one. Interesting. Theoretically possible. Let's beat UGA and UF first and then see....
If the Tigers can beat Florida, why the heck would they lose to the Tide? An Ole Miss loss is far more likely in your scenario. To answer your question, the scenario you used is one argument I've advanced in favor of playoffs. In an FCS-style playoff system where the higher-seeded teams would play at home, you'd be far more likely to see two SEC teams playing for the title. And it would likely happen more than once IMHO. :LSU231:
