    Maybe.

I have him projected as not being part of the 09 team.

We need the extra room. Numbers are tight, unfortunately.

AFAIK, he's not gonna play baseball. That about chaps my hide too. I was SO looking forward to this dude on the diamond. From what I've read/heard, he just can't cut it against the rest of the roster. It's a damn good thing this dude chose to come to LSU and play football. He can be playing on Sundays.

    Check this out...

Chad Jones attended the baseball team meeting Monday. It appears that Jones will play only baseball until the start of spring football practice. During spring football, he will not do anything with baseball. Then, a decision will be made about what happens for Jones as regards baseball after the end of spring football.

surprise surprise...didnt think Id even see the attempt to return to baseball.

LMAO. I don't think there will be much slacking off in the outfield during that time. I think he should play, IMO. I don't know much about him other than the dude was drafted outta HS. The few games I followed, he was pitching (like most of the best HS players,) but couldn't really tell much from that.

If memory serves, Jones had a problem playing both and keeping his grades/academics in order. Also, the spring schedule is what he did last year - and it didn't work out so great for him (previous grades point).

JayB, Jones is a million miles from playing on Sundays. He is great a run coverage but very weak on pass coverage. There is no need in the NFL for a safety who cant do both exceptionally well. Jones may have had a sophomore slump, I dont know, but he will need to pick up his pass coverage abilities substantially before he is playing on Sundays.

and its strange watching someone so talented suck so hard. i mean hes constantly caught looking in the backfield completely forgetting/not seeing his coverage. its painful.

im not sure this guy will ever get it and ive been the biggest chad jones fan from the beginning.

likely bust in baseball and possibly in football.

this guy doesnt (yet) have the football smarts. he is, though, blessed with unlimited physical ability.

where will this get him? possibly drafted but N.ot F.or L.ong.

I did say can. He's just a sophomore. Stranger things have happened. But I mainly meant his chances are better in football than they are in baseball.

    here are some fun statistics.

Approximately three in 50, or about 6.1 percent, of high school senior boys interscholastic baseball players will go on to play men's baseball at a NCAA member institution.
Less than ten in 100, or about 9.4 percent, of NCAA senior male baseball players will get drafted by a Major League Baseball (MLB) team.
Approximately one in 200, or approximately 0.45 percent of high school senior boys playing interscholastic baseball will eventually be drafted by an MLB team.

About 5.7 percent, or approximately one in 17, of all high school senior boys playing interscholastic football will go on to play football at a NCAA member institution.
About 1.8 percent, or approximately one in 50, of NCAA senior football players will get drafted by a National Football League (NFL) team.
Approximately eight in 10,000, or approximately 0.08 percent of high school senior boys playing interscholastic football will eventually be drafted by an NFL team.

any stats on those that actually play in the NFL and those that actually make it to the MLB and are not just drafted... The MLB draft is almost a joke because of some many rounds in it.
