Think about it, he had to come out & say that baseball was his first love - otherwise no team would risk drafting him early. I don't put too much stock into that.
Again, I hope you are right but this isnt the only place Ive seen it quoted that he's 1st or 2nd round. Im just saying that if he is drafted that high its strong money. I dont think he can turn it down.
I don't think he can either, but I don't think he'll be drafted that high. First of all, he'll be drafted as an outfielder, not a left handed pitcher like many fans think. Secondly, you hear the same thing about a lot of these dual sport athletes about how they could be such high picks in the MLB. People & recruiting services propogate it because it adds intrigue & drama to the situation. A lot of times teams don't want to use a high draft pick on someone that is a two sport athlete because they may chose to go the football route & then they've wasted a draft pick. I want to point out, I have never seen any video of Chad playing baseball & am not basing my opinion on his abilities as a baseball player. This is just my personal opinion based on what I said above.
But it's not like JOnes' brother is hog-tied to LSU. If Rahim Alhem wanted to transfer, he could get one granted--every coach is willing to let a player get his release if they truely aren't happy. After all, a coach may not want to grant a player his release to play for a conference rival--but the reality is that he can't stop him from doing so. All the player has to do is appeal to the NCAA--and then they simply force a release.
Rahim's political views will not negatively affect Chad at all. Deek seems to be obsessed with Rahim & his perception that he hates LSU. Rahim doesn't hate LSU & definitely won't steer his brother away from coming here.
If he doesn't take the money this year than he can't take it next year. He'd have to wait until after his third year.
Here's his plans for the next couple of weeks. Warning, it's not a nice read. http://story.scout.com/a.z?s=14&p=2&c=613018
