If that is the case then I would expect Mingo (if he signs) to DE at some point, once he bulks up. He may begin at LB.

Chad J could play outside LB as long as he doesn,t put to much bulk on to slow him self down and learns to rap up when he tackles.

Perhaps he just needs the proper DB scheme and timeliness of the play calling in order to excel in coverage. He certainly has the speed to do it. Regardless of where they stick him, I don't think Chavis will allow him to come off the field.

Completely agree! I think it had to do alot with the scheme the coaches put him in. No doubt that he has the talent to play, but I think he looked bad because of the coaches decisions on how, where and when to use him at times last year. I am looking for him and others on defense to have an outstanding year. I know its their first year in a new system, but I think Chavis and the new coaches will put the right schemes in at the right time along with the right people in the right place. Everyone knows we have more talent than we can use, and now we have the coaches to utilize them to the best of their ability.

Yeah all through this thread I was thinking Chad Jones to SS, especially with Craig Loston looking like more of a FS (either 2009 or 2010 on the field). SS is more of a run stopper than FS, which seems to be a compromise between FS and making the move to LB.

I'm very interested to see what the new defensive coaching staff does with the crew that redshirted last year, plus early enrollee Minter. I wouldn't be suprised if every position is up for grabs - no built in bias like you have with an existing staff.
