Just wanted to know peoples thoughts of Chad Jones maybe playing at LB. After watching the GT game you actually knew he was on the field for the first time this season with all the plays he was making at the line. His speed and aggressiveness could be nice in Chavis's attacking def.

It seems that every time he gets in the game, he makes an impact. I would like to see him in the LB spot every down.

I'm not trying to be hard on the kid I know he has time to develop but at this time I'm not sold on him at safety. When you come in as a 5 star safety and you can see his athleticism you would just think he would be more of a difference maker in the secondary but as a group they all lacked much to be desired. I do love the way he attacks runners near the line he attacks the runner, he doesn't sit back and let them run over him.

Fact is, that he has gotten bigger muscle wise. and looks more and more like a OLB. I Think with Loston coming in at Safety, and potentially Moore, and Myles. Jones would be a great OLB and could potentially go high in the NFL draft.

Then we are in agreeance then that this should happen, glad to see I'm not out of my mind. I just want to make the most of these athletes we keep getting I hate waisting talent being stubborn and keeping someone in a position just because they were good at it in highschool

Chad Jones was not very affective this year in coverage. But was it him or the scheme?

Im sure Chavis will put Jones at the position that will allow CJ to be at his best. If that's LB, then im sure CJ will be a good one.

    I agree.

And with Chavis being a LB specialist, we might finally see the switch.

The only issue is we have depth problems at safety.

Coleman/CJones/McCray/Hatcher and that's about it. We will have Loston as well, but he will be raw. CFrancois has not panned out so far. Duplessis finally made it this Spring.

LB depth is also an issue however. So we shall see.

Interesting topic. I've always thought Jones was a fabulous open field run stopper/play maker. He just cant cover. OLB would be perfect for him if he has the bulk for it. He could make a lot of plays from that position.

:geaux: Maybe he would be better in coverage out of the LB position if he makes the move. At least we would have an LB that could cover recievers to a certain extent. Right now our LB's are horrible trying to cover someone. Guess we'll wait and see. :LSU231:

i was hearing chad jones and steven ridley to LB all season long...

it appears that the chad jones rumor will actually stick. i'd love him at lb, damn he'd be sick and that's the speed we need there.
