Yeah that one. If you go to a wreck where alcohol is even present with two or more people... You'll know. Trust me.
I debated on whether to even post my original response - out of deference to your experience in those matters. Hope all is good with Chad.
good, that means that he does have good restraint. he was at a kicking party that night. if anyone has him as a friend on facebook, you saw the pics he was tagged in. good for him.
First things first. Chad Jones will always be a :tigerhead and he has my very sincere wishes for a full and speedy recovery. Now, I'm certainly no expert on the NFL's CBA or its player contracts, but it seems to me that, unless a player voluntarily resigns or retires, skips games and/or "willfully takes action that has the effect of substantially undermining his ability to fully participate and contribute in either pre-season training camp or the regular season" then his signing bonus can't be forfeited. (Pages 41-42 of the CBA at the link below. So, reports that the Giants are seeking return of the signing bonus seem unfounded. Also, very thankfully, it does seem that CJ ,and all other NFL players, have at least decent health insurance coverage. (Page 216 of the CBA at the link below). http://static.nfl.com/static/content/public/image/cba/nfl-cba-2006-2012.pdf And as a total aside, it looks like each of the Saints got paid an additional $142,000 for their post-season wins. (Page 192). That works out to, what, about $35.5k a week for the four weeks of the post-season? Plus they got rings, too. :geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige
I don't know the legal wording of the bonuses but one would think that one would actually have to play to be able to keep it. This was a non football injury. The medical insurance will take care of his medical bills but he is going to have a long road to recovery. They talk about a wait and see how he recovers but it would be miraculous if he did eventually make it back. Let's hope for miracles.
i don't know about all of that, i've seen stranger things happen, ya know. it's really up to chad jones on how he rehabs. bo jackson was able to continue playing sports after his avascular necrosis of the hip forced him into a hip replacement. it's apples and oranges here but hip issues are some of the more difficult injuries to come back from. not only that, but they're extremely fragile -- you're not even supposed to run, jump or cross your legs a certain way with the replacement and jackson did all three pretty much at the same time on the field. he was able to play baseball a lot more extensively than football, obviously, but one could still make a decent living in the MLB. i don't know the extent of CJ's restructured bones, etc, but he had some of the best doctors in Louisiana on his side. it certainly won't be easy to come back, but i don't think it will take a miracle -- just a bit of determination. not to rag on CJ here, but there were reports about him being a bit lazy and out of shape at the combines, hopefully something like this can inspire him. i'm rooting like hell for the guy, i know how tough it is to bounce back from bone fractures/injuries myself, i can't even imagine how tough it will be for the types of injuries that he sustained. but hey, miracles do happen.
Looks like Chad is progressing nicely, but still has a long road ahead. 2theadvocate.com | Sports | Surgeries ahead for Chad Jones — Baton Rouge, LA
