Last year, USC had Oregon on their heels right from the start. We could not contain their passing game. Begrudging credit goes to Matt Barkley, he knows what he's doing, and his receivers are stellar. The Ducks hung in there, got some breaks, and made a good game of it, but the truth is, the Trojans kicked our ass for the first 2/3 of the game. We couldn't put enough pressure on Barkley, and our extra good, but tiny, DB's were cut to pieces. SC's passing game should be better this year, a first team all American QB throwing to two first team all American WR's. 2012 USC is a champion caliber team,.. that isn't going to win a championship, because they have little depth. If Barkley gets hurt they're sunk,.. they have an unproven unknown as backup QB, and there's not much talent at RB to help them either. When camps open maybe some freshmen depth will show, but right now, USC looks very thin, especially on both lines. The Trojan's schedule is harder early, they play Oregon game 9, USC is going to be pretty beat up by then. The Ducks have a very easy backloaded schedule, being untested before USC is a concern. The Duck's offense is going to be more pass heavy this year imo, we have the talent, but our new QB is going to determine how high we fly. We still have tiny CB's, but Oregon's defense is going to be the PAC's best this year,.. that's why I think we'll beat the Trojans twice. The Coliseum isn't so daunting to us, and motivation won't be a problem, Oregon should be ready, Duck fans are glaring at USC right now.
Don't really have much anti-Southern Cal (yeah, I know it bugs them) in my soul. Coach McKay and coach Bryant were great friends and coach Robinson was very gracious, even in defeat. Now Kiffin, not so much. Just don't see him getting every ounce of talent out of his teams. Depth would concern me more than inexperience at this stage. Watch Monty lose his mind when the Chrome Domers gets USC on their heels with the hyper-spread.
Oregon is better than they were last year in the trenches and the QB ain't gonna miss a beat from last year.
