"What will happen: ASU will come up with a few big moments early to make everyone nervous, and then the LSU defense will turn into the LSU defense again and end the drama with a dominant second quarter. However, the Tigers won't be sharp. CFN Prediction: LSU 38 ... Appalachian State 17 ... Line: No Line" http://cfn.scout.com/2/776225.html
If Appy State's speedsters can get into the second level of the defense routinely, then this is a realistic score. But I think that will be a tall order. LSU's DL and LB >> Michagan's I'm betting our Will and Sam backers are much, much better than many of us (including me) have been expecting them to be. Add Chad Jones and Danny McCray and Coleman and Taylor. CB is the only question, and the coaches sound very comfortable. I don't see 17 points. But that's why they play the game.
i dont either, but turnovers are the great equalizer. its not hard to envision either of two fresh-meat QBs having a few of them. that, and LSU might give up good field position a few times on special teams. there will not be many TDs off of long drives, though.
IMO, this is a classic "coaching" thing. If CLM has them ready to play like I think he will, as if it were any other SEC,PAC-10, insert conf here, then I believe it will be a boat race. If however, the tiger sleep on them like UM did last year then it could be closer than we want to see it. There is no doubt that michigan and LSU have a ton more talent than App St. Its all about the heart!
Not sure that I agree with the score but the game description reminds me of other games in the last few years... and is very plausible. Of course, I hope we blow them out decisively.
Taking the facts that we always start slow, have a group of inexperienced quarterbacks, and a lot of first time starters plus the fact that regardless of where they play, they are pretty good football players, we will have to use the chihuahua (sp?) theory to put them in there place. The chihuahua theory is simple. Those little bastards think they are ten times their actual size, and are not afraid of anything. They will stand at your ankles and bark like hell until you kick them into the nearest wall. Then they pee on the floor. Game over.
LSU 48 App St. 17 I realistically think they can score 17 points against your defense. But I have no doubt that their defense can't hold your offense enough to matter.
Do you remember the way last season started?? Our defence outscored our opponet's offence in the first 3 games.
End of first quarter scores. Miss St 3-0 VT 14-0 MTSU 10-0 USC 7-7 Tulane 7-0 UF 0-3 UK 0-7 Aub 7-7 Bama 10-3 LTech 10-0 MS 14-7 AR 6-0 UT 7-6 OSU 3-10 And the TD against MTSU was scored with 0's on the clock. I didn't mean for the whole games, just that we are not an out of the gates football team in most cases. Like most rules, there are some exceptions. I see where this could be amplified this season with the inexperience at QB.
I also thought you were talking about us starting the SEASON slow, like we always did under Saban. Under Miles, we don't start slow on the season, but our 1st quarter production was down last year from where it was the previous two years under Miles (with the most notable exception of Va Tech.)
