Scout.com: Preview 2010 - Sept. 4 LSU vs North Carolina Just wondering how accurate CFN is on this. I see it's written "by staff" instead of Pete Fiutak. Poor Pete.... too late to go back and read his write-up on Notre Dame as 'ol Pete has revised it, but in the original from last week he made some really bad errors.... as recapped by this blog script: "UPDATE: Pete’s apparently discovered his gaffe and has scrubbed the story of the Matt James reference. That’s okay, Pete, we took a picture. College Football News, or “CFN” has posted their preview of the Irish football team. It was written by Pete Fiutak, and there’s no way in hell I’m linking to it, mostly because it contains the sort of misinformation you typically only see in national soccer team reports in North Korea. Among the “gems.” Picks the Navy game at Yankee Stadium as the most important game of the year for the Irish. Unfortunately, they play Army at Yankee Stadium. Calls Nate Montana “Nick Montana.” Claims this “Nick Montana” transferred from Washington to Notre Dame. AND THEN PETE FIUTAK ACTUALLY WROTE THE FOLLOWING PARAGRAPH: New recuit Matt James might not be an elite prospect, but he was on everyone’s list of the best tackles of this year’s recruiting class with the size and frame to sit at one tackle spot for 4 years. At 6-7 and 291 pounds, the Cincinnati native followed Brian Kelly to South Bend and will get a long look at playing time right away on the outside. Even though he’s tall, he’s physical for the ground game and does a good job of shoving people around. Unfortunately, the kid passed away this spring. Nice work, Pete!
IMO, and I think most, UNC and LSU's D are going to be close to = come game day. The advantage goes to LSU for potential offence. UNC had just as bad of an O as LSU, but had a better D and lost to 3 unranked teams... LSU has a far better ability to produce enough points with their talent. LSU Wins. I think the turning point will be late in the 3rd when UNC just cant keep up. LSU breaks away and leaves the game up by 2 scores...
i don't know the writer and i'm not familiar with his usual work ethic, but that's pretty bad. perhaps the article was written prior to the player's passing? that doesn't account for the other "misinformation," but i knew staff writers at nicholls st. when i was a news writer there who were terrible "journalists" (and i use the term loosely) who wouldn't dare make those mistakes.
i'd like to know who this paterson kid is and how he can be in two places at once. :hihi: on paper this game looks very, very scary. i know that there is no way LSU should have a problem winning this game, but i can see the team (especially offense) coming out way too rusty, turning the ball over and spotting carolina an easy, early score -- with their defense and (supposedly?) improved offense, that could be a tough hurdle to overcome. in most games last season LSU's offensive ranking didn't mean much at all. we didn't rack up yards, but we scored quickly a lot of times. we didn't need to outscore many people because the defense was so stout (really, it was. 13 points to florida, which really should have had less, is not bad at all.) we have that killer instinct, big play potential EVERY single time we line up and the ball is snapped. does UNC have similar weapons? doubtful. it will translate into, like lsupride123 said, a pull-away win for LSU in the third.
If we play up to our potential and take care of our business, we will be fine. With the talent we have, and the potential weapons we have on offense we should be able to win this game handily. I don't think it will be a pushover by any means, just that we need to play Tiger ball and make UNC make the mistakes. We do this and all will be ok. :geauxtige :geaux: :helmet:
