    "40. LSU (8-5) CFN Score: 12.25
    2007 Score: 223.23 2007 Ranking: 1
The fall was swift and ugly with the passing game giving the ball away way too often and the defense struggling to come close to matching its national title production. The Tigers only beat two bowl teams, South Carolina and Troy, and they struggled in both needing a huge fourth quarter to beat the Trojans. However, the Chick-fil-A domination of Georgia Tech calmed everything down and might have set the tone for 2009. "

That's a fair ranking. Let's just forget about the 08 season.

Or learn from it. As a fan, it makes me appreciate the recent successes we've had that much more.

I personally feel that it's not that fair, especially considering the result of our bowl. But it's a pundit, and that's just a nice word for instigator with nothing better to do, and his opinion don't mean nothing. :geauxtige

:geaux: Let's just all concentrate on the shellacking of Ga. Tech. That win was crucial to the programs future, IMO. Had LSU lost that game I would have been pretty concerned about next season. Always better to concentrate on the positive I suppose and hopefully that's what the team will do as they take that victory with them into the '09 season. Always better to finish on a high note. Having said that, #40 was way lower than I though we'd finish. Hopefully the team and fans will use that as inspiration/motivation for '09.:thumb: :LSU231:

do you think USC would have ended up at 40 if they had dropped 5 games?

Florida ok we got dominated, but anyone that watched that game closely knows that talent wise we matched up, things didnt go our way, the tip that harvin catches for a td, the delay of game on tebow when we stopped them inside the 5. that game was closer than most think, especially midway through the 3rd, UF just ran away with it in the 4th.
Georgia, we should have won that game, no way Georgia was better than we were. Stafford had the game of his life against us, which is not typical Stafford, the 2 pick sixes and the pick that lead to 3.
Ole Miss, we just never could get anything going, this game and the UF game are the 2 that i thought the better team won that day. Maybe not the most talented, but the better team that particular day.
Arkansas, come on we are better than Arkansas. That one drive Arkansas had with all of the stupid penalties we committed.
Alabama, we had that game won, turnovers, turnovers, turnovers, we put over 200 yards on the ground on the gumps, but lame brained play calls, and poor execution lost this game for us. Once again i believe we were the more talented team.

There is no way in hell that there were 39 teams that were better than us this season.

There were not 39 more talented teams, which is why it was frustrating as hell to watch.

I wouldn't argue too much that 39 teams didn't have a more successful season than we did. This season was definitely a dud. A team can have all the potential in the world; if it doesn't capitalize, who cares? The bowl win was nice, but the country expected much more from us this season (which is a good thing, IMO). We are a household name, no one expects us to underperform. It was definitely a disappointing season for all those observers who have grown accustomed to us winning big.

:geaux: Bingo! It was definitely frustrating to see the Tigers losing to teams they shouldn't have. I agree with LaSalle that UF and Old Piss were the teams that just beat us outright. The others against Ga., 'Bama and the Porker's we should have one those!:nope: The loss to Arky is the one that really burns my A$$ up!:po: 30 - 16 and lose it. That's frustration. Look out for '09 though! The Tigers will be back with a vengeance! :LSU231:
