    The OSU team will learn.

red.......they have the best defense because of the high school teams they played this year. If we had their schedule we would have the greatest defense in the history of college football.

YAWN........this OSU team is the 2007 version of the 2006 Notre Dame team.
    No contest.

Wow. You are seriously uneducated about college football. Somehow (blind luck?), you are right about 2006 ND, I would have been disappointed had we not blown them out. But with 2007 Ohio State, I won't be that surprised if they beat us in the NC.

I think you are right but special teams and turnovers will decide how close. Laying eggs wont be easy here for either.

Well please do educate us, what was OSU's SOS and while you're at it, what was LSU's?

When trying to determine how good a team is, there are many things to consider. To me, the BCS SOS means zero. But, for starters, I'd begin with looking at the talent each team has. As for discussing the talent of LSU vis-a-vis Ohio State, I thought this thread was a good idea here on TF:
Who From OSU Could Start For LSU?

As for the talent LSU has, other good threads I've seen here on TF would be those threads that discuss who the best LSU players are, who would make the all-time LSU team, what LSU team was the best, how talented is our current 2007 team, etc.

Geekboy's statement that LSU might have "the greatest defense in the history of college football" is absolutely absurd. It's like other Tiger fans I've heard that claim our team this year is the most talented team in the history of college football. That's just insanely delusional.

Also, buckeyeplanet.com has a lot of good threads to learn from as well. There are many threads over there that I'd like to get involved with when I have more time, just like here.

His comment was in reference to why their defense was rated #1 and SOS is subject to a lot of different interpretation but it wasn't out in left field for him to say that for you to make such a strong statement about his intelligence. Ever hear of hyperbole?

You're so "Educated" that instead of answering my question you're trying to steer me to a different issue and to other people's thoughts via threads- not what I'd expect from someone who goes around insulting people's intelligence.

We were talking about their defense and it's rating in comparison to how ours would have been with their schedule not "How good" their or our TEAM was.

What I'm saying is that if you are interested in my input on these issues, then go check out those threads I mentioned. I plan on giving my input there when I get the time. And as for this whole "insulting people's intelligence" thing, I don't think Geekboy is dumb (would someone who is dumb be likely to pick the name "Geekboy?"). I just think that he is seriously uneducated about college football, like I said. What does being knowledgeable about college football have to do with intelligence?

Well, I CAN NOT believe I am saying this...But here goes....we paid a hell of a lot of money for tickets so I am HOPING for a good, close game, one with lots of hard hitting, some good "going for it on 4th down", and maybe a trick play or two, all by LSU of course....I wish for one of those 1 point wins, those last minute victories... where I can't leave my seat for another beer or to go pee cuz I might miss something kinnda games....Hell, a few overtimes would be OK too.... As long as LSU pulls it out and gets the W...And then I'll hit the bars to calm my frazzled nerves and we'll all look at each other and say, "sumbitch, they gotta stop doing that to us!!, but whatta game!!" Thats I hope for....everything I saw on TV all season, all in 1 night:hihi: Is that what will happen??? Naa, LSU'll kill em...Why??? Cuz their LSU...and its a night game:thumb:

Austin Murphy, Sport's Illustrated, highlights some of the points I've been trying to make. He also strongly implies that LSU very might get blown out by OSU this year like Florida blew out LSU last year...

[The Buckeyes] are sick and tired of hearing they have no business playing in [the BCS National Championship] ... [this was the] general saltiness I discerned among the Buckeyes. Think about it: they've been hearing about the Florida wipeout for 11 months. Between now and Jan. 7, they will hear ad nauseam, in detail, how they are inferior to LSU, and why they have no hope against a club from the SEC (against whose teams, it bears noting, OSU is 0 for its last eight). Imagine how sick of the subject they'll be by kickoff in the Superdome on Jan. 7. ... Things will be different this time around. They are already different. ... coach Jim Tressel has ratcheted up conditioning. Sprinkled throughout practices is a new hardship: a series of sideline-to-sideline sprints called "LSU Tiger drills." In full pads, the players are required to finish these dashes as quickly as they did in the preseason -- when they ran them in shorts. "Believe me," says 6'8", 315-pound left tackle Alex Boone, "we're moving." Last year the Buckeyes spent 10 days in Arizona before their meltdown in prime time. It was Ohio State's third visit to the Valley of the Sun -- and its inviting nightlife -- in four years. By last winter, the Buckeyes were very familiar with preferred nightspots. Too familiar, some suspect. This year, the phrase of choice among Buckeyes is "business trip." In keeping with the new austerity, Ohio State will cut its time at the bowl site in half, arriving in New Orleans on Jan. 2 -- five days before kickoff. Until then, the bon temps will have to rouler without them. ... [Last year, the] Buckeyes took the field against the Gators almost believing their success to be inevitable -- an attitude bordering on entitlement. ... This time around, the Buckeyes are hearing how unworthy they are to play for the title, "how we're gonna get killed," says Boone. "You hear that for a month, you start getting pissed off." Welcome to Florida's world, Ohio State. On the field after that 41-14 blowout last January, I was struck by how deeply many Gators had been offended by -- and drawn motivation from --predictions of a Buckeyes romp. Being a 'dog has its benefits. It's to the benefit of Boone and All-America right tackle Kirk Barton that the Tigers have no pass-rushers on a par with Derrick Harvey and Jarvis Moss, who combined for five sacks. ... "Everybody doubts us, says we don't deserve to be here," admits shutdown corner Malcolm Jenkins. "They don't give us a chance. We feel comfortable in that role." His message to football fans unhappy to see the Buckeyes back in the title contest? "Just watch the game."
