I really believe it we are penatly free, we win by 2 scores at least. But if we commit alot of penalties, its a very close game going to OT.

Ohio St, really hasnt been tested this year, no matter how good people say their team is. Thats not bashing Ohio St or being a homer. Thats just me being honest with myself. They had 3 tough games. Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan. The schedule this year really didnt prepare them for this game. They do alot of things very well, but we just do them better.:geaux:

Yeah, I understand that. I wasn't replying to you so much as I was replying to phlashman's claim that "all LSU has to do is not pull a WV!" West Virginia lost to Pitt, a 28-point underdog. That would be like LSU losing to Louisiana Tech, a 36-point underdog, not Ohio State.

I just read this prediction by a Penn State fan:

"Everybody seems to have placed their money on LSU, but I'm 100% certain that OSU is going to win it and win it big. I'll even be bold enough to predict that OSU will hold LSU to a field goal for most of the game, leading 41-3 at one point, and maybe allowing two meaningless touchdowns in the last two minutes. I can't wait until Ohio State wipes the smirks off of those smug LSU fans. Ohio State's been able to stop speedy teams this year, I noticed this with the Penn State game where you actually stopped Penn State's running game cold. I don't even think the game was as close as what I saw on the scoreboard. Your Beanie Wells is incredible! ... You also managed to hold Michigan to just a field goal, something I can't remember ever seeing before. With the weapons you have at hand, OSU will be taking down LSU and winning the National Championship"

...and this is the one statement I can't get my head around. What does a pissed off buckeye look like? Is it cracked into a smirk? Does it have a protrusion different from a normal acorn that makes it meaner? Does something ooze from it internally like a boil?

    I dunno...

I look at it like this. The game will be close and slow start won't help but we have started slow against some pretty good teams and wound up with the win. If we start fast then OSU doesn't have a chance. They will get theirs on the ground but drop them by 14 or so in the 3rd and they have to pass...it could get ugly. They will have to stay ahead or very close in order to win. Even then it could go both ways. I just don't look at us getting blown out. We haven't had that happen all year and I don't think it will happen now...especially to a team with talent no better than Florida or Auburn.

What media is that? I would say its 90% of the media and fans think you are going to win.

And some of our fans predictions were unrealistic?

Laughable.. at best. The 2nd ranked Va. Tech defense held us to a mere 48 points. Had they not played us they'd probably have the top ranked defense.

Wisconsin, Illinois, and Penn State probably had the best rushing offenses of anyone the Buckeye's faced.

    Rushing Offense:
Illinois - 5th (lost that one)
    Wisconsin - 21st
    PSU - 34th
    LSU - 12th .. I like our chances.

    Total Offense:
    Michigan - 70th
LSU - 12th .. still like our chances.

Can't remember ever seeing a #5 Michigan team get flat out beat by Appy St. either.

LSU played 7 teams ranked in the top 20 this season.
Ohio St. played 3 ranked teams, ranked between 23-25.

I'm won't say we can't lose... I WILL say that if Ohio St. leads by 38 points at any point in the game, I will eat my own head with a spork. I'm thinkin we win by 2 td's... or somewhere in that area...

Really, that prediction looks to me like a fan that's trying to make him/herself feel better about PSU's loss to the Buckeyes.

    Matt Hayes, Sporting News:

This Ohio State team [is] more equipped to win the national title game than last year's group that included the Heisman Trophy winner and a handful of first-day NFL draft picks ... The reality is this: Ohio State was methodical in how it disposed of teams this fall. The defense set the tone, and the offense was balanced and efficient. It's the same formula the Buckeyes used to win the 2002 national title despite numerous doubters that season.

Ohio State has lost to Florida over and over this fall. Even when the Buckeyes were No. 1, the stink hadn't evaporated. Overrated. Pretenders. Frauds. ... [Ohio State] must deal with last year's national title game week after week in the court of public opinion ... "There's no doubt we're still playing that game," Ohio State center Jim Cordle says. "But [now] we have a chance to redeem ourselves."

You learn fast- LVT is the only patient to ever be brought into an emergency room to have his stomach pumped from overdosing on kool aid.

    Says who??

Glad you did note there is a difference between "Winning big" and a "Big win".

    Sporting News, December 18, 2007 --

Ohio State threw itself into full-scale preparations Monday

Quarterback Todd Boeckman added, "We're doing a few things differently. Practices ... and the lifting is a lot more intense. Everything is kicked up another notch so that last year won't happen again."

Most of the players are excited to be going somewhere different than Arizona, where they have gone for bowl games three of the past four years.

In fact, some have even said that the familiarity with Arizona also worked against them. "People were talking about this place is a cool place to go or that place," wide receiver Brian Hartline said of the Phoenix area. "They knew the names of the streets. Going there it was so much easier to get unfocused ... Going now to our away game where we really don't know a whole lot down there is really going to help us."
