Holliday won't be able to hit homers in that pitchers park in St. Louis. Much ado about nothing. Holliday WAY overrated, as are most Rockies hitters once they are traded, we have found out.
anyone to protect Pujols and keep him from the mandatory IBB makes the Cards that much better. Come October, I think the Derosa trade is the better one for them, though. I always liked him.
I would have agreed too until I realized Hampton was available and is an excellent base runner. Win the game. Luckily they did.
clearly I did not know what i was talking about regarding tejada. even though he is clearly a bum, he doesnt strikeout as much as I assumed my eyes told me. same here. i dont understand why hes so underrated. hes worth far more to his teams than his numbers say and he always seems to produce in clutch situation. i forgot he was there actually. you dont put a fragile hampton on base to win one game when he can win at least 3 or 4 the rest of the year on his own.:lol:
and thus my assertion is correct to put Hampton's health on the line for a single win versus the most dangerous team in your division (as opposed to a potential 1-8 record and a 6.22 ERA)
To be honest, there's not a whole lot of difference between Ankiel and Holliday--at least not enough to justify giving up Brett Wallace. Ankiel had been struggling, but I'm not sure he's recovered from SMASHING into the wall earlier this year. We'll see. Not sure I like this move too much. I agree that the Derosa deal will be better in the long run. If they were going to give up Wallace, they may have even had a chance at Halladay. They needed the bat, but come playoff time another ace would sure be nice to have.
