Thats right, 2023! the best part is that it effectively eliminates any plans for an SEC-TV disaster like the Big-10. http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/uga/stories/2008/08/14/sec_landmark_tv_contract_cbs.html
too bad .... because as good as this deal may be for the SEC Presidents from a financial perspective, .... a deal with CBS virtually assures that the public (poll voters) perception of the SEC contenders will continue to take a backseat to those contenders that are contractually aligned with The Worldwide Leader in Sports (ABC/ESPN). Like it or not, the SEC's road to the BCS just got a little more difficult.
I don't know about that. Gary Danielson single-handedly promoted Florida into the BCS title game over Michigan who is in the Big 10, which is televised by ABC.
It won't be any more difficult than it already is. The competition assures that. And Disney can keep its love affair with the number conferences, I don't care. They suck anyway, and should be represented by sucky football teams.
Well does CBS have a partnership with Fox, because they are saying the SEC games will be shown on my local Fox station, not CBS.
I just wish there were more than one CBS night game a year now that we seem to be their favorite pick every year.
One prime time game a season.....they could easily have a prime time game every week!! ESPN needs some competition and this is just sad.
According to a CFN blog, CBS now has first call on every game, nuking ESPN’s ability to have first call on 3 games every year. In the Big Ten ABC still gets to pick the game of the week, so the contract with the SEC and CBS is pretty much the same. If the SEC wants to try having their own network, I don’t see how the new CBS contract changes anything. In my opinion removing ESPN from having any first picks makes it easier to pull it off. Added: Until the SEC announces a new contract with ESPN and / or Raycom, it seems to me that pretty much anything is possible.
Are 15 more years of dave and dave really a cause for celebration? its almost as if JP/LF accidentally send their nascar commentators to cover college football each week and never catch the mistake. boogity boogity look at that thar boy run.
