CBS crew after Ford goes in to the endzone

There is a lot of overreacting to what commentators say, but there are also a handful that can't come close to hiding their love for one team or disdain for another. I don't like commentators that love my team too much or the other team. I just want them to do their job and appear neutral.

 

I agree with you. I don't think Verne is biased, he's just not very good.

FWIW, I rewatched the game last night, and they did talk about Drake Nevis a couple times, and how chief said he thought they were better this year.

Also, when Ford went into the end zone, I think they were just waiting on the signal from the refs. They handled a lot better than Jim Hawthorne did, screaming "Tigers win! Tigers win! Tigers win!...oh...wait...they say he stepped out." I can't imagine the roller coaster of emotions his listeners felt.

And when Reid intercepted the Maze pass, I don't think Verne was saying "Oh no! How terrible!" As if he was disappointed. I think he was saying, "Oh no! I was mistaken!" He had previously said that Williams had caught it.

As much as I want to hate on Verne, I think you are spot on with this analysis. When you go into the game with the perception that they are Bama homers, you will hear what you want to hear but in reality...they are just SEC homers. They love their SEC football and I can respect that. I know Gary Danielson really enjoys these intense matchups in great atmospheres and he used to be a big Big 10 guy.

 

vern does this for us in other games when a big play has happened. most just dont notice.

im pretty sure he isnt even aware who is playing nor does it matter. hes just reacting.

 

id take ingram because i think TR is going to be more injury prone, despite Ingram being hurt currently.

 

Danielson will be on Finebaum today.
