You can't defend Saban's loss to a very bad ULM team with far inferior players and then say we "should" have lost to Troy. We didn't lose to Troy. Saban's loss to ULM was an actual loss. Just like the loss to UAB when he was here.
Saban had a very good year with Bama just like he had a very good year with us in 2003. The rest of his modern coaching career has been average to good seasons usually consisting of 1-2 losses to teams he has no business losing to. Teams with much less talent.
I'm not saying Saban is a bad coach. He's a good coach and a great recruiter. He's just not this football GOD that he's made out to be and his record is evidence of that.

The defending national champs having to comeback from the largest deficit ever in school history to win a game against Troy = a rebuilding ALA team losing to ULM with a coaching regime in their first year in my book. It's called growing pains. Troy should not have even been in the game against LSU - not that they are a bad team, just the talent level isn't even close. Seems to me the ULM loss was a turning point for ALA - material for Saban to whip them into shape. Look at their record since, they have been quite good, 12-2. My point is simply that every coach in major college football has a ULM game, and as long as it is not the beginning of a losing spiral, then it should be viewed as a hiccup and not the point of reference about how others should view the coach's ability, which is how Andouille and others use the ULM game to criticize Saban. Dude can coach college football irregardless of the ULM game.

You're right, I would much rather have a loss to ulm than a comeback victory against troy.

You're right about Alabama's loss to ULM - It's almost like beating a dead horse. And we really have to stop doing just that. I personally vow to stop it.... The minute the hillarity of it all wears off!!!!!

I love rubbing the loss to UL-Monroe in Bama's face. I hope they go 6-6 again next year. I hope Saban ends up like Shula: one ten-win season among a bunch of crappy seasons.

I didn't know this thread turned into a lets bash Bama thread.

For you guys hoping Alabama has a season like LSU next year, don't be surprised to see them go with another 1-2 loss season. Their defense alone can force wins and it will be better next year.

Bama will be in the same position as us next year. A young, green QB.

Some of you LSU fans can continue to polish Saban's knob regardless.
