He can go where he wants, he doesn't owe the home state anything. But he should have been straight up with Miles, that bullchit about 95% LSU is inexcusable. But like Red said. We had a hell of a class, I'm gonna accenutate on the positive. :thumb:
Kiffin is a straight up punk. It's very rare for someone to have a job 2 months and be this universally hated but Kiffin has managed to make BIG enemies in the SEC. He's pissed off everybody.
Has this been posted, the Kiffin do this just to keep LSU from getting one of the 2? For first time in many years, LSU nation Bama Nation and Florida nation all agree on something. We all hate Kiffin and UT. Now, what really happened in the Janzen deal. They (UT) have had Janzen for a while, promise his dad a coaching job, in a year or so, whatever, alls fair in love war and recruiting...I am not complaining..(Just ask USC and Reggie Bush or read the book, notice the "O" connection.) Of course, his dad is not taking the coaching job at UT this year. ( Sure to send up flags to NCAA), plus they already have a DB coach so "O" gets him a job in Ohio with a buddy. Problem is other safety they are after Darrin Myles was looking hard at LSU, and obviously plays the same postition and would be only safety in LSU's class. So if they sign Janzen thay probably lose Myles as LSU or someone else will put press on him. They want them both but need a rouse. They promise starting job to Janzen if he plays ball. (According to claasmates at Barbe.) His dad is a college coach so he knows the game. LSU hears rumors Janzen to UT, but dad and son tell everyone they are firm with LSU and re-commit to Miles. They also say that they are holding their signing day ceremony until day after NSD so Mom can be there. It is all a complete lie, it is so that Myles will sign a binding LOI with UT and LSU will not press him. UT actualy has Janzen's LOI the day before NSD and holds it so Myles doesn't know. It works like a charm, everbody is completely fooled as Janzen is booed off the stage at his high school in Lake Charles. Probably because he lied to his coaches and all his classmates. They even have a good cover story, that the Defensive coach that recruited him left. Of course, this was known for months and is complete BS. I assume now that his dad will move into a 500k plus house owned by a UT booster at him new job for almost nothing using the scam that the guy could not sell it and he needed it occupied for insurance purposes. (unless this story breaks) It was brillant, evil, but brillant. However, it doesnt work without Janzen and his dad Coach Guidry playing along. They had to reaffirm their commimment and make up the story about Mom so taht UT can hold off on releasing his LOI until after Myles signs. So fans from other boards forgive us as we go completely nuts, but he have never been done in by a local kid like this before. The real victim is Darrin Myles.
This is an unfortunate loss for us this year. I don't think its the end of the world. I guess the prospect of playing in a pro-style program under a Hall of Fame coordinator was too much to pass up. You can't really blame the kid when you think about it. However, I agree that it didn't show a lot of class the way he carried out his decision. As far as Kiffin goes, I don't think he was guilty of doing anything any other coach wouldn't do. I agree with an earlier post that alluded to the fact that recruiting is getting nasty. This whole deal with Benton and Randle kinda opened my eyes to that fact. If the shoe was on the other foot and we stole a recruit from UT at the 11th hour then we'd all be jumping up and down waving our purple and gold flags. No reason to lose it. I say its better for us to buckle back down and make a stronger commitment to our in-state talent. As far as the so-called All-Star recruiting team assembled in Knoxville goes our borders won't be the only ones under attack next year. UT is gonna be dipping down into Georgia, Florida, and Bama as well. No reason for us to panic. If they're as good as advertised they're gonna be giving Richt, Saban, and Meyer fits as well as Miles. Hopefully LSU makes an even stronger commitment to recruiting these kids hard and early. If our program is strong and successful then these kids won't even want to leave the state.
And I would say that as a USC supporter, I feel the exact same way about what Spurrier pulled with Alshon Jeffrey. Seems to be this year's version of the hat toss.
I hear what ya'll are posting about JJ and I fully recognize how great this class is. I'm proud of each and every player who chose LSU. Kiffin is what is really ticking me off. I never even noticed the guy until until he arrived at Tenn and starting shooting his mouth off b4 he ever coached a game in the SEC. I posted this in another thread but he's nothing but a chump who had to hire his daddy to be the real coach because he knew he couldn't handle the job. Loser ! You'll get yours pal. Definitely going to watch the Florida Tenn game next year.
uscvball alluded to the fact that everyone loses recruits on NSD. It happened alot yesterday. I for one want to look at the positives of this situation. We lost JJ but we also got a speed rusher in SM who was supposedly solid to UNC. We still have Jai Eugene who I believe will make an impact this year. Next year we will recruit CB real hard so we will be OK.
