Thing is be a man or young man and dont lie to someone and he did it on more than one ocassion straight to the coaches face and many others.
From the front page of the Tenn Rivals page....(bolds are mine) "Lake Charles, Louisiana five-star defensive back Janzen Jackson has known in his heart for weeks that he wanted to be a Vol. Tuesday, Jackson gave the Vol coaches the final word that he was heading to Tennessee and he made it official with his mom present Thursday morning. The difference for the Vols in the end was not the facilities, but it was defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin." http://tennessee.rivals.com/default.asp?SR=RivalsFP I thought the dad confirmed LSU on Tuesday. Cute.
Not just that.. it was reported that he actually sent paper work to TN yesterday too. After his dad told Miles..
:geaux:He did. Said JJ "was all LSU". What a liar huh. Guess that bodes well for future recruits at Miami, OH being able to trust Mr. Guidry's word and believe he'll actually stand by what he says. Pretty sad. :LSU231:
I think it's time for the university presidents and the U.S. Department of Education to intervene and stop the exploitation of these kids and their selection process. It's like the slam dunk contest. It was cool for a few years but the excitement has worn off. It was funny the first few times you saw a kid with three caps or a team jersey under his jacket but now it has turned into a joke. It also seems that most of the kids who pull these stunts aren't the top acamdemic qualifiers and usually aren't good at public speaking. The ratings from the high school all star games and networks like ESPN are driving this ship. Somebody needs to step in as say enough. I wouldn't be surprised if some coaches and/or recruiters are intentionally asking a player to verbally commit to another school simply to sabotage their recruiting efforts. I personally don't believe in the saying "win at all costs". Cheating and unethical practices will ruin the sport and eventually ruin this country. I can live with losing a recruit. I just can't stand all the hoopla surrounding the process. Maybe we need an early signing period. That way some kids will be signed long before the all stars games and much of the "Hollywood crap" will cease to exist on NSD. I wouldn't worry too much about the state of Louisiana. There have been tons of players from LA that have been great for other schools. LA and MS have an abundance of talent that AR, AL, and TN don't have. Those schools have to be successful outside their borders because they don't have enough in-state talent to compete. LSU has TX and MS flanking LA and will continue to have great classes as long as we remain committed to having great fans, facilities, and academics.
Wow, I just saw the news. The worst part about it is that I went to Burger King yesterday and while waiting for my food at the window the cashier was asking for updates. I told him about RR and Sam and he asked about JJ. I told him his mom did not catch her flight, etc... and he said I know JJ's people and that is not the reason for waiting to announce. I mean the guy worked at Burger King and was dead on.:sob:
If he wanted to go to Tennessee that is fine but the way he and his dad handled it wasn't classy at all. That is all I'm going to say about that.
LK promised JJ a starting position, also, he wants to play safety as well, not CB. So he promised D. Myles Jr, a starting postion along with JJ. So Kiffin is going to start 3 safeties at the sametime. lol Kiffin is easily becoming enemy #1, these DBs better realize what type of defense they are going to play for.
