Re: Janzen Jackson That's all it was all along. I certainly don't blame him (or Randle for that fact considering Lee looked like he was remain our starting QB). Had Miles been so stubborn as to keep that circus at DC going on, I would have bolted for Bama myself. What happens these next 3-5 years certainly impact his stock in the NFL draft.
Re: Janzen Jackson Janzen is on his visit at Tenn. I really like his dad. http://www.shreveporttimes.com/article/20090109/SPORTS0202/901090330/1031/SPORTS0301
Re: Janzen Jackson What's interesting about this scenario is that the parent appears to be in-favor of LSU for their son. When J. McFarland's parent(s) were going the other way (towards OU or Tex), many were saying that the parents should stay out of it and let the child go where he wants. "JM was a mama's boy" and that his mom would be too involved. "We wouldn't want JM, anyway, if his mom will be like the police". Can't wait to see how this plays out. IMO, if he comes because of his dad and doesn't fully buy into the program and experience, he won't be an asset because he probably won't play all out. I say let him go where his heart is. If that is LSU, then so be it. Same with Randle.
Re: Janzen Jackson The difference is some parents want their kids to go to a certain school but don't forbid them from going anywhere else or manipulate them into going where they don't want them to go. It's a line that's easy to not cross and mama definitely crossed it in the JM situation. I'm just glad we were in third and not second on that deal.
Re: Janzen Jackson Gotcha. I just thought it was an interesting scenario that is playing out with the parent wanting the son to come to LSU. I'm glad that JM didn't choose LSU because it could have been a headache. Wish we could get all the recruits we targeted. I'll be just as satisfied with the ones that really want to be here, though. They'll go all out and give it their all on every play. I think we can get JJ after it all plays out. It would be better that he knows that he wants to be a tiger than to apease his parent or fanbase, though. It's unfortunate that we don't know what he's thinking at this point, but I respect him for wanting to be sure. Even if he doesn't commit to us.

Re: Janzen Jackson Jackson said his son remains an LSU commitment, but he was impacted by the defensive coaching changes at LSU. "I'm sure the new coaches LSU has hired are great coaches," Guidry said. "But the relationship my son had with Mallory and Peveto are lost." "He's got a tough decision to make," Guidry said. "Right now he doesn't want to talk about it."
Re: Janzen Jackson This worry anyone? I can't really say it worries me much.. Chavis and Cooper just need to get to know him. Full-court press time.
Re: Janzen Jackson 100 % correct. Remember our concerns over Lane and his association with Montgomery. That didn't turn out so badly, did it? Give it a little time. Jackson knows he will be in much better hands with the new defensive coaching staff. That trumps his relationship he had with Peveto and Mallory. Go get em Coop and Chief.
Re: Janzen Jackson He should be happy at the upgrade LSU got at DB coach. LSU will be a force for the foreseeable future. It has everything a kid could want to have an incredible college career and the boost to the next level. But if the kid doesn't want to be here then he should go somewhere else. He'll be better off and LSU will be better off. There are a TON of talented kids that want to be Tigers, I'd prefer a scholarship go to the ones that REALLY want to be Tigers. Sounds like he may be setting up an excuse to decommit. Kids need to understand that they are committing to a school, not a coach. Coaches come and go all the time. If he doesn't want to be a Tiger I hope he decommits soon so LSU can bring in a DB that wants to be a Tiger.
