I live in New Bern, NC. Established in 1710. Tryon Palace, in New Bern, was the first capitol of NC. The palace was built in 1770. Unfortunately it burned to the ground in 1798. Gone. In 1959, after 150 years, locals put together a campaign to rebuild. All these tourist come down here, pay a small fortune to see and walk through but they’re not seeing the real deal, but literally, a fake. When I learned that the structure was not the original, I lost all interest in visiting. Can’t put a finger on it, but it lost all meaning and mystery to me. I expect the new cathedral will affect some the same.
Looking at his background he has been a chief of staff. So I would assume he has good organizational skills. Really not an issue for me. I would bet he will have his pick of highly skilled people to choose from.
The French government owns all Catholic churches there. At least that’s what a priest said this morning.
Notre-Dame de Paris - Wikipedia Under the 1905 law on the separation of Church and State, Notre-Dame de Paris is one of 70 churches in Paris built before that year which are owned by the French state. While the building itself is owned by the state, the Catholic Church is the designated beneficiary, having the exclusive right to use it for religious purposes in perpetuity.
