I don't think the US position regarding Iran is persuasive around the world.

    Problems:

The US trotting out the WMD line again when this turned out to be such a disaster for US credibility last time. We're hitting the same note again and again.

The UN Security Council....Russia and China are getting uneasy with US adventures in the Middle East/North Africa. They will not just stand by in a propaganda assault against Iran or Syria.

The entire line that Iran is a threat to the US is unconvincing. They may be a problem for Israel but not to us.

The technical arguments seem to be on the Iranian side. They are allowed to develop nuclear energy. For that they need enriched uranium. Their cover story holds water.

Lastly, the entire military situation over there could result in some real pain for the US if Iran responds aggressively to US/Israeli actions. Iran could also stir up trouble in Iraq again.

    Thoughts?

If it wasn't for the oil, no one would care about the middle east.

Let those fools mutually annihilate each other.

because obviously a dictator with oil money can cause far more problems.

when you say that it implies that we want their oil money or something, which isnt true.

i dont need to try again, i told you that dictators with money are more dangerous than dictators with no money/oil. what i said was true. fidel castro wouldnt have invaded and conquered the domincan republic even if wanted to, because cuba is poor and cant barely feed itself. north korea is dangerous, but not nearly as dangerous as they would be if they were crazy oil-rich. very simple.

so your theory is that we want their oil? in what sense is that true? are we currently taking their oil from them? what do you mean?

you are repeating something meaningless that you heard.

    was there oil in kosovo?

Yeah they will. Both are taking huge criticism for backing the Syrian dictator. Both have reduced oil purchases from Iran.

It begs the question . . . why does a country with some of the biggest oil reserves in the world have a need for nuclear energy? At the cost of international sanctions. Their cover story reeks.

The Iranian military is a joke. They don't have a lot of "aggressive response" in them. The Iranian army lost a war and a million men versus Iraq the last time they fought. Their air force and navy cannot control their own airspace or territorial waters.

The Syrian troubles adversely affects Iran. Syria is their only true ally and their primary conduit to Hezbollah and Hamas.

There is a tremendous amount of bluffing going on in Iran, just as Saddam did. The US understands this. The Israelis under Yahoo are rash, however. The Israelis are a far bigger threat to peace in the middle east right now.

The last sentence I completely agree with....Israel should be told to tone it down or they are on their own.
