I read somewhere that considering the BB and FB issues, the lack of institutional control tag may end up sticking. I have no idea how realistic this is. Sure hope the Saints play the Seahawks while he's the HC and dominate them.
The NCAA has still never made any ruling on the Reggie Bush house scandal. They would still not be investigating after five years if there was nothing there. Now we are hearing about this McKnight SUV stuff. Who knows what else is out their. I bet they are rolling it all together. The timing of Carroll's resignation and McKnight's early departure seem suspect too.
Oh, I agree with everything you say here. Carroll will not be the savior the Seahawks are expecting. After a few years, he'll likely return to the NCAA because some school will waive a ton of money at him thinking he'll bring them one-peat. I don't want him here either.
The deal with the Reggie Bush thing is that because he and his family didn't reach a settlement, now all the testimony will be public record, and that is why the NCAA is investigating now. Something like that.
For example, the Bush thing is headline news now: NCAA reportedly finally interviews Reggie Bush - Sporting News staff reports - College Basketball - Sporting News Court ruling clears way for depositions of Reggie Bush, Pete Carroll | The Fabulous Forum | Los Angeles Times etc etc
Pete Carroll finally speaks: Says his leaving USC has nothing to do with possible NCAA sanctions, nothing to do with his disagreements with the USC AD Mike Garett, that the most diffucult thing was leaving the recruits but that he has told at least one of them 'We're not disconnecting. I'll just see you down the road,' that the NCAA just isn't the same as the NFL, and regarding how he feels about USC fans: "Maybe they'll understand," he said. "Maybe they won't." "I've given everything I've had," he said. "There was never going to be a good time [for me to leave]." USC Coach Pete Carroll eager to move to 'a whole different level' with Seahawks - latimes.com
THe NCAA hasn't stopped investigating since the Reggie Bush, Mayo, etc... Not just starting now. Arbitration was denied but if a settlement is reached then most of the information could still be kept from the public especially if the NCAA doesn't make any statements or render any penalties.
Ya, that's what I meant by "good-natured"... I just meant "polite." No doubt Sanchez wasn't cool with his coach taking a highly-publicized jab at him when he left to go pro... which is why Sanchez came out of nowhere to jab him right back for it now that he led his team to victory in the playoffs a year later. Funny thing is that Pete takes a swipe at Sanchez for leaving USC for the NFL... and now Ole Trusty Pete is doing the exact same thing... leaving USC for the NFL. On the USC forums, their fans are in an uproar at how betrayed they feel by Pete, thread after thread about it (one interesting one was what they should do with their "In Pete I Trust" t-shirts).
i think the recent developments in the RB case just ensure that there will be a bigger settlement paid. USC boosters are probably in contact with RB right now offering to pay this guy off so this thing can go away.
