On a related note, here are the expenses for recruiting. Not sure ND got such a great ROI the last few years.
He should have been paid more then, but there were nay sayers. Now, even the nay sayers can't give a good reason why. IMO!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but is his record at USC not 76-14? Or 84.44444%? Les Miles is 34-6...or 85% I guess they take into account Les' tenure at OSU, though.
what a great link this is! you can see that LSU is # 9 in Sports revenues at $53M. You can see who is trying to buy a national championship? Texas, of course is number 1 in revenues as I expected and tied with ND at $70M spent. I love seeing ND pay out all that green for a "pure pork" product like Weiss and suffer seasons like they had last year. Alarming to me as a Tiger fan is that GA, FLA, AU & AL are right there in the $60M range right behind Texas while we have dropped. Auburn is outspending LSU? Trailers gone up? wazzup here? They are all tring to buy :crystal: And it's :crystal:-clear to me that as long as LSU wants to stay near the top, we're gonna have to pay to "keep in this arms race". LSU at 9th in spending isn't bad. We've got to keep at the Top in facilities and upgrades and keep up with the Jones. Good news is our costs are lower, especially recruiting as we don't have far to travel. Tennessee can't catch a break here. This means higher ticket prices during a time when they are already expensive. No end of this is in sight, unless the NCAA sets a spending cap. Is it all worth it? :crystal: I say yeah.
I'd rather that they're successful, too. Dallas has no college sports team to back. I may have to actually go to a game there in a year or two to see one of my former students who just signed with them.
It's really surprising to me that SMU can't field a major program. In Texas, next to OK. they have what would seem a solid recruiting base. And I have to believe that they would have the money to fund a big time program. Never have recovered from the death penalty, or is there more to it than that?
That guy has a pretty impressive resume too. I'd read something on him a time ago and remember thinking that but don't recall his prior experience before UL.
