I feel Hilliard runs with his body too straight up and down, I rarely see him get low and fall forward when he gets hit. Hill and Ware both had good center of gravity and kept falling forward when hit. How many yards did Hill have after first contact? I agree with the feet theory and I also think he was making damn sure that ball wasn't coming out when he didn't stretch the ball over the line.
You've got to include the attempted fade Mettenberger threw in the 4th Q. That was easily the ugliest pass I think I've ever seen. Wright never had a chance.
Someone needs to just teach him one of the definitions of momentum: the tendency for a body in motion to remain in motion!
I am not impressed with Mett, the coaching staff does not trust him. He completed some key passes on third down, but Im not impressed by his reads.
He needs to work on his short goal line passes, seems like when he lobs it up to the receivers he tends to over throw them (which is better than under I guess), seemed like he had a sure fire touchdown to Landry near the goal line and he overthrew him......however, I'm behind him 100 % still such an improvement over prior years.
I'm not sure that Landry wasn't the one in the wrong position on that pass. The endzone was wide open, the pass made it there, but Landry was hanging out on the 3-yard-line. I can't imagine he was supposed to be there, instead of the endzone, so while it looks like Mett overthrew him, I still wonder if Landry ran his route correctly. I think Mett's inaccuracy around the goal line is his "want" to NOT throw any more interceptions down there. I realize on the fade, he didn't want to underthrow it, but he didn't give his receiver any chance to catch the ball, either.
"fade" that's the term I was searching for! Seemed like Landry was running the in route (like he's been doing for 5 games) and when he cut back to the corner he was wide open......I'm no coach nor do I pretend to be, but if that play was executed correctly it's a TD, the boys from Cocktown bit hard on the in route and the fade would have been wide open.....
Yeah, Landry didn't exactly put himself in a position to catch that ball. He turned around backwards instead of continuing to fade out to where the ball was. That wasn't a bad pass. The one to the TE in the other end zone was atrocious. Regarding tipped balls, Mett has that low trajectory that we all thought was great last season watching videos, because we figured it was less likely to be intercepted. And let's not forget, Clowney and Taylor are both 6'7"+.
I think South Carolina was doing an exceptional job of batting down passes. It seems they were coached to do that. Every team doesn't.
