1. This is why sometimes we should take a step back and let things percolate before we pretend to think we know everything. The media told us one guy was an idiot and the other was a football savant. Well they had one part right.

Ryan Clark thanks him in a tweet.

Former LSU defensive back and current ESPN NFL analyst Ryan Clark took to Twitter on Saturday night to send a message to Texas head coach Tom Herman, thanking him for picking the Longhorns over the Tigers back in November 2016. The two schools were both hiring coaches and LSU went with current head coach Ed Orgeron after Herman declined an offer to take over the SEC program when he was at Houston.

"As a LSU alum I would like to thank you Tom Herman," Clark wrote in the tweet. "A few years back you made the decision I never knew I wanted you to make. You chose Texas & for that I am grateful."

  3. $19,000,000 is NOT a flat circle, no matter how pretty you say it.

  4. Could the real man of genius be Joe Alleva? Getting Texas and aTm to up their bids for Herman and Jimbo and then hiring a great coach for a low ball figure, all while appearing to be a clueless clown.
Could he be the real Lex Luthor?
  5. NO

  6. Just remember, Scott Woodward was the guy who broke the bank for Jimbo. I guess no one is perfect.

  7. Now he is LSU AD. All part of the plan.
  8. Now to crush Jimbo and the circle is complete.

  9. I think you bring a pretty good point, but it is also fair to say he was not the only one holding the hammer over the piggy bank. The cult roots run immeasurably deep in college station.
  10. It was a good PR hire.

Alleva put us in the Miles fiasco and the WW saga. He made a calculated hire with O, but I think his presence would have continued to make O’s job harder. Same w WW. Woodward has support of Admin to run athletics without outside meddling, and is competent enough to keep it that way.
