I'll get to that question in just a bit. A little background on the context.

The "official launch" for a web site that Barry Switzer is involved it comes tonight. The web site is www.coachescabana.com

The idea they are running with is the need for a third audio source for ball games. So, if you don't like Verne and Gary, and it takes too much effort to sync the radio feed to the TV, their offering this option.

Past coaches, the majority of the time at least, are going to be part of a crew doing an audio feed. If you look at Tennessee, they'll have Johnny Majors handling the color commentary.

I like the idea...as long as it's not too much of a distraction due to delay.

Looking at who they have for LSU, Fourcade...well, it was an eyebrow raising moment. After all, he played at Ole Miss. Is his tie to the LSU base strong enough to draw based on his time with the Saints?

Absolutely not. I wouldn't want Archie Manning either. LSU > Saints. Gimme booger McFarland or Kevin Mawae.

No. His only tie to he LSU base would be the crossover LSU/Saints fans. The problem there is most Saints fans dislike Fourcade. He was a prick.

I'd rather watch 10 episodes of Dance Moms than sit through him offering color on even one down of LSU football. What a dick bag.

Don't see it. Fourcade doing LSU? Who's next, Lacey?

Bert Jones, Tom Hodson, hell, I'd rather Dinardo than anyone who's from La and went out of state to play.

    Fourcade's OK

    HOT FROM THE MOBILE PRESSER
Honestly, if Alabama opens the season 2-0, the Crimson Tide will probably run the table. With the defense undergoing some renovations, the season opener against Virginia Tech should provide a good test and the Week 3 matchup at Texas A&M will likely be the toughest game of the season. After that, it's hard to see any opponent, barring a major surprise, taking down 'Bama.

Switzer has had this running in Oklahoma for at least last season, maybe the one before that. He gets one or two local people, they sit and watch the game and you can ask them questions and stuff on a live feed, like a chat room I am thinking. I hear them pimp it on the radio all the time.

I'm wondering if he is trying to make money off of this. Dude has a block of storage units on damn near every corner of OKC/Norman not sure what else he is tied up in down here but I'm sure it is something. Folks down here refer to him as "The King" lol.

I knew he was doing it as a trial run kind of thing in Norman. I had not heard anything about how well it was received. Considering the plans to be up to 50 teams by 2014 it seems like it's catching on with an audience.

I understand their hopes are to sell the streams to Yahoo! or another company that streams audio from sporting events on their site. Right now Rivals.com is hosting the streaming audio.

I'm going to listen to a few of them just for the hell of it. The commentary during games is something I could care much less about, but not much.

I have a radio that I can set the delay. I like to listen to Hawthorne, because he gets reports from the sidelines.

I imagine it will be just as problematic to sync the audio from the net as from the radio. I love my audio sync device. Best $150 bucks I ever spent.
